Juande Ramos has been sacked by CSKA Moscow after just 47 days in charge of the Russian side following the team's 3-1 home defeat to city rivals FC Moscow on Sunday.

His dismissal came eerily exactly a year after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur with CSKA announcing that former FC Moscow and Krylia Sovetov coach Leonid Slutsky will be Ramos' replacement.

A statement on the club's official website said: "Following an agreement between all parties, CSKA have cancelled their contract with head coach Juande Ramos.

"We are very grateful to Juande Ramos for the work he has done with the team. In turn the Spanish coach thanked the club's leadership and players for their co-operation and wished the football club every success.''

Ramos was unveiled as manager on September 10, replacing Zico after the Brazilian moved to Greek side Olympiakos, but less than seven weeks later the former Sevilla, Tottenham and Real Madrid has been dismissed after four wins, one draw and four defeats in his nine games in charge.

The Spanish boss, who won back-to-back UEFA Cups with Sevilla in 2006 and 2007, was charged with helping CSKA progress in the Champions League and a home victory over Besiktas was sandwiched between losses to Wolfsburg and Manchester United.

The Russian side are one point behind second-placed Wolfsburg in the Group B table with a realistic chance of qualification for the knockout stages, but it appears that it was CSKA's worrying league form that was behind Ramos' dismissal.

CSKA currently lie fifth in the Russian Premier League, ten points behind leaders Rubin Kazan, and look unlikely to qualify for the Champions League with only four games of the season remaining.

A draw with lowly Spartak Nalchik and defeats to Zenith St Petersburg and then Sunday's 3-1 home reverse against FC Moscow were enough for the board to decide a change was needed at the Luzhniki Stadium.
