Job Description

L1. Support (Application):

Qualification: Graduate/BE/MCA or Equivalent

Experience: 1-3 years in providing onsite/L1 support in technical Assistance Centre/Customer care for system admin, network admin or equivalent
Skills & Responsibilities: Telecom & networking fundamentals, UNIX Administration, Initial trouble shooting skills for application,interfaces/DBs,vendor co-ordination skills, listens to others and asks appropriate questions to understand issues, monitoring & reporting, carry out routine Ops activities & checklists, basic understanding of network related commands to enable verification of connectivity(such as ping, trace route, net stat) understand process tables and how to stop and start processes, awareness of VAS services, call flows,GSM,SS7,clustering fundamentals, understanding of disk systems(such as mirroring and RAID) liaise directly with customers on service requests or problems, ensure understanding of business impact associated with problems and keeps the customer informed as part of the resolution process, retain ownership of customer issues until resolved, escalated or accepted by another individual, actively participates in team discussions and activities, display an enthusiasm and clinginess to learn, work together with other with local technical groups in order to resolve customer issues effectively, excellent communications skills-written & Oral.

L2.Support (Application):

Qualification: Graduate/BE/MCA or equivalent

Experience: 3-4 years of experience in providing L1/L2 support in Telecom domain and with at least 2-4 years experience in supporting Telecom VAS software products/applications.
Skills & Responsibilities: Advanced knowledge of Telecom, networking and UNIX administration, problem debugging/isolation skills for applications/DBs/Interfaces,vendor co-ordination and conflict mgmt skills,documentation,shift operations planning and co-ordination, reporting & presentations, write well constructed shell scripts with functional routines, deal with customers in a professional &courteous manner which keeps them informed and offers value on daily basis, sound understanding of VAS services, call flows,GSM,SS7,clustering solutions, understand the impact of particular processes should be running on a server & how they should be configured, solid understanding of storage, including SAN attached & local storage thorough understanding of monitoring and reporting tools, provides assistance to team members to achieve individual and team tasks, demonstration self assurance in own actions,judgements and capabilities, work together with external technical groups in order to resolve customer issues effectively, actively troubleshoot monitoring and reporting issues, excellent communication skills-written & Oral.



L1.Support (Infrastructure):

Qualification: Diploma or Graduate

Experience: 1-3 years of relevant technologies basic level administrator

Skills & responsibilities: Operating System 1. Basic understanding of the OS & aware of basic commands & tools on UNIX 2.Installation of the OS under supervision 3. Apply system patches and change kernels under instruction awareness of clustering fundamentals administration 4. Utilize remote access software available on customer networks to remotely control server 5. Add users to local systems using available administration tools file and file system. 6. Understand data movement utilities and file permissions 7.Mount and unmount file systems. System processes understand process tables and how to stop and start processes storage-understanding of storage management fundamentals understanding of disk systems (such as mirroring and RAID) 8. Know commands to view storage from the server backup/restore. 9. Thorough understanding of backup routines and be able to verify backups/data integrity 10. Troubleshoot basic backup and restore issues 11.SUnderstand and use native and enterprise backup tools security 12.Understanding and acceptance of the requirement for physical and virtual security within the UNIX environment 13.Awareness of security classifications and policies scripting understanding of the various types of scripts and commands used 14. Write and modify basic shell scripts monitoring/reporting posses a working knowledge of which major processes/areas need to be monitored basic understanding of monitoring and reporting tools.

L2. Support (Infrastructure):
Qualification: Diploma or Graduate
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant technology experience. Intermediate Administrator
Skills and Responsibilities: 1. Operating system-Install, upgrade and configure the operating system interrupt and manage boot process-patch management-Understanding of kernel parameters and how they can be set. Sound understanding of clustering solutions 2. Administration utilizes remote consoles and terminal servers to access customer servers develop basic understanding of one or two UNIX related technologies (such as send mail, web services). 3. File and file systems-Administer disks using volume management and LUN creation and allocation utilities 4. System processes-understand the impact of particular processes, what processes should be running on a server and how they should be configured 5. Storage-management of disk systems utilizing array tools to allocate LUN’s on some arrays-solid understanding of storage, including SAN attached and local storage 6. Backup/restore install, upgrade and resolve issues with backup solutions possess a working knowledge of all backup applications in use in the relevant customer environments 7.Security ability to install/configure security tools in the UNIX environment 8. Scripting-write well constructed shell scripts with functional routines use of complex commands AWK and SED 9. Monitoring/reporting thorough understanding of monitoring and reporting tools actively troubleshoot monitoring and reporting issues 10.Networking
