    THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN: The Department of African and African Diaspora Studies invites applications for several tenured faculty positions (Associate and Full Professor) that will be available starting Fall 2010. Applicants are invited from all fields of Black (Africana, African, African American, African and/or Black Diaspora, etc.) Studies and from a wide range of other disciplinary areas including those in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts, as well as professions such as Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Architecture, and Communications. We are looking for outstanding scholars whose work examines the political, cultural, social, economic, artistic, and intellectual experiences of people of African descent in Africa and the African Diaspora, including the United States, and who explore the personal and public forces that impinge on their experiences. We are especially interested in outstanding candidates who focus on critical theory in and intersectionality of race, gender, sexuality, and social class. The selected candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program, direct graduate research, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity, and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university.

    Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand and an established reputation of high quality research and scholarly production as well as have a demonstrated record as effective classroom teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience. Position funding is pending budgetary approval.     Job Description:

    THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN: The Institute for Critical Urban Policy and the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies invite applications for the position of Director of the Institute and tenured faculty member. This position will be available starting Fall 2010.

    We are looking for outstanding administrator-scholars whose scholarly work encompasses social policy in such areas as health, education, political participation, economics, law and criminal justice, culture and art, and environmental justice. We are particularly interested in outstanding candidates experienced in policy-oriented research with African American communities in the United States. Applicants are invited from a wide range of disciplinary areas including those in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts, as well as from professions such as Business Management, Higher Education Administration, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Architecture, and Communications.

    The principal responsibility of the selected candidate will be to help to establish the Institute and provide its ongoing leadership. The Director will oversee and coordinate of the work of the Institute's permanent staff, including research associates and administrators, and the affiliated faculty and fellows producing relevant policy oriented scholarly research and publications. The candidate will be responsible for identifying and obtaining external sources of funding, including governmental and foundational grants, and must demonstrate relevant successful experience. The candidate will also hold a tenured faculty position within the Department of African and African Diaspora Studies and will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program, direct graduate research, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity, and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university.
