CCM presidential candidate Jakaya Kikwete
CCM presidential candidate Jakaya Kikwete has directed leaders in Kilimanjaro Region to find out and inform members of the public, the person financing the construction of Mawenzi hospital in Moshi District.
Addressing a campaign rally yesterday, Kikwete said there were rumours that the hospital was being funded by one of the opposition party candidates and he wanted him or her known publicly.
I have heard that there is a person funding the construction of Mawenzi hospital, while it is normally funded by the government, he said.
He said there was no reason for a contestant to lie to the people in order to be voted for in the forthcoming October general election.
The CCM national chairman said the government was undertaking the project and had set aside a total of 1.6bn/- to upgrade the hospital to a referral status, explaining that a four-storey building would be added to the infrastructure.
While in Bomangombe area, Hai District, Kikwete called on the people to vote for the outgoing legislator, Eng Fuya Kimbita. He said Kimbita had considerably contributed to the development of the people in Hai constituency.
He promised to provide Hai residents with improved coffee seedlings to ensure quality yields. He said the government was consulting a US-based coffee company to find the market for Tanzanian coffee.
Kikwete also promised to improve social services including education, health care, infrastructure and water.
