Ivory Coast coach Vahid Halilhodzic heaped praise on the Tanzanian national team who were beaten 1-0 by The Elephants on Monday during a friendly match played in Dar-es-Salam, saying that the East Africans were in a strong position to become one of the best sides on the continent.

"They put up a superb display against us, we didn't expect it. I believe they'll be a formidable force in just a few years," the Bosnia born coach was quoted as saying in the Daily News.

The tactician advised the team to maintain their spirit and discipline for speedy progress.

"You don't have to be discouraged by the defeat instead it should motivate you to meet your targets," he advised.

Chelsea’s striker Didier Drogba headed home the lone goal six minutes before half-time.

"It was a tough match but a good warm-up ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. We extended our winning run and that's good for us," he said.

Ivorian captain Didier Drogba also lauded the Taifa Stars impressive performance.

"They were spirited and demonstrated their commitment to the team," Drogba said. "Almost all departments were outstanding, it's a good team, I really appreciate the players."
