IT Professionals in Tanzania

Tuchukulie ukiritimba kuwa ni challenge tunayotakiwa kuikabili.
Ukianza kuorodhesha matatizo yanayoikumba ICT ndipo utakagundua umuhimu wa ICT ASSOCIATION type of thing. Mfano mdogo,

Different faces of Information Technology

Many of us are not aware of the different specialties in IT. We believe an IT person can do anything from fixing a computer to fixing a network system. Our Correspondent David Stanley explains the differences in this article.

Nianze KIVIPI KWANZA UMEONGEA NA MODERATOR KUSIKIA MAONI YAKE YEYE ANAONAJE ??

Mkuu labda tunge brainstorm na ku discusss kidogo how to first go about developing and structuring this ITnetwork as i believe the delivery mechanisms are many and using a thread on JF is just an idea, tunaweza kutimia ata blogspot kama the "naombakazi" blog, au even joomla kama tukiweza ku-secure a domain na kuhost exclusively...

For example i was looking at this site Guru.com – Find freelancers at the world’s largest online service marketplace. and am thinking we want to somehow arrive at something like this, however we can start slowly by phasing out the project, maybe we can start by firstly allowing proffesionals to post the profiles which will incude:

Company/Personal Info/Contact detail: (One can be as open or use a forum name at this point, naturally the more transparent and accessible one is the more likely people will collaborate and work with you!)

1) Categorization: (Databases, Networks, Web design, etc), one will be allowed to pick more the one specialism.

2) Skills: Database design, User Specification, Coding, etc

3) Languages: C##, PHP, Java, HTML etc

4) Past Projects: Could list as well as have links and description of projects undertaken by proffesional and the responsibility in them.

5) Working samples, if they can be upload or a link can be provided to some working samples

6) References from people they have worked with.

This list is not exhaustive but a starting point maybe others have a better approach an i would plead for them to try and be a part of making this happen. Bottomline is if we wait for the powers that be to hear our calls then we got another thing coming, tuwe na moyo wakujitolea na hili!!! If in the future initiatives za hapa zikisikika then the momentum will pick up very fast!!!!

Mtandao poa, but ultimately it should lead to actual physical meetings. Kuna ubayagani kukutana once a month na kuexchange ideas, jokes, hata kutafakari joint ventures?

Mwisho wake hata sisi waosha vikombe mtataka tuwe na registered. IT inabadilika kila kukicha kama huchakariki ujue wewe uko nyumba kwa mambo mengi. Labda kama mnaitaka iwepo tu kama ushahidi.

CottonEyeJoe,

I like the idea of categorizations.

Nakuunga mkono 100% Kang. We really don't need a licensing organization for IT like NBAA.

angalia viongozi:
1 Dr. Jabiri Kuwe Bakari The Open University of Tanzania Chairman
2 Mr. Mulembwa Munaku Computer Science Department-UDSM Vice Chairman
3 Ms. Elizabeth Mkoba Tanzania Education Authority Executive Secretary
4 Mr. Adam Mambi MKURABITA Vice Executive Secretary
5 Mr. Frank Goyayi
Baada ya kuangalia hawa viongozi nikagundua kitu,IT ya sasa si ile ya miaka 40,IT Expert wa sasa anajua jinsi ya kutumia IT yake ili ikindhi matakwa ya jamii na si tu kuprogram kama ilivyokuwa zamani ndio maana utakuta siku hizi kwenye IT kuna hadi Accounting,OB,Finance nk.
Wito, watu wote wa IT tukae chini tuokoe hili jahazi jamani.

Those guys found the association out of greedy to make money, nothing else! Look at their website, what do you get? If they can't get their website right, what else can they do?

Tatizo la bongo siasa ipo kila mahali and everything is money! TAT is a really crap!

Hello,

TISPA seems to be very active organization, but is scoped to ISP's. TITA on the other hand is a brilliant idea that flourished for a period of time.

bureaucracy, exclusivity and corruption. these are just a few of the many ugly heads that make up that Hydra called Guilds. I mean, why do we need another body to recommend or refer to me as an IT Technician? I thought that's what colleges are for? and then what, kutakuwa na a certain criteria ya kudefine who is and who isn't an IT proffesional? ni lazima uwe na degree or diploma? will we have to take exams to prove our viability, pay up for membership fees, elect leaders and so forth? guys, msitake kufanya maisha ya kuwa IT technician more complicated than it is, hata kama it's just a labor union mnaongelea, am still going to be very much against it

na wale wanafikiria guilds are such a good idea, soma kuhusu American Medical Association, Writers Guild of America, East na kuhusu kufanya Phd..
hata hapa hapa locally, mnajua kuhusu NBAA

I am seriously in enthusiastic with the commencement of the TANZANIA COMPUTER SOCIETY. I would like it to be modeled like any other societies in Tanzania and with growth hopefully it will be given the mandate by the Govt to govern the IT activities.

I have done sufficient research and I see we not succeeding in IT as we are supposed to do because of dis organization.

So please, friends, Ladies, gentlemen.. I you share the same thought and feeling about about this topic seriously contact me 0767220066 or 0787420066

Kwa kiingilishi hiki uko siriazi kweli??

Kwa kiingilishi hiki uko siriazi kweli??

Type zenyewe ndo hizi, basi kunahitajika kozi ya lugha kabla ya kingine.

Wewe kama unataka networking in IT kuna professional certifications tayari, na kuna reps wa Microsoft,Cisco etc, kwa nini usianzie hapo na ku network na watu wenye similar credentials?

Ama sivyo ndo mtaleta habari hizi za "I am seriously in enthusiastic...". Huyu IT kasoma wapi asipojua hata kiingereza cha kusomea error messages? Cuba?

Mtafanya hata wahitimu wa typing course wajidai nao IT professionals.

Jamani si kuna professional certifications? Hizi siasa mnataka za nini tena? Anzieni hapo kwenye hizo certifications kwanza bwana!!
Mtu anatoka povu hapa wakati hana hata CCNA tu

I know that:-
Engineers are registered by ERB
Contractors are registered by CRB
Accountants are registered by NBAA?

I would like to know who registers IT professional in Tanzania.

Your competency and certification are good enough.

Guys, We are going too far. Lets not talk about an association being given the mandate by gotz to issue licences.. Not this.

The fact that there is need for an association that is switched on and it is working towards advancing interests of IT professionals . Simple..

all other countries have these in numerous numbers ... Tanzania has TITA which is technically blunt.

Hebu tuwe serious. Its killing to feel stupid enough not to have such setup for a country..

Look at sample computer society activities:
1. ICT training of top/international proffesional courses such as Implementing an IT Governance Framework etc
2. Research
3. Organizing Congresses and summits.

Lack of an ICT/IT society is devastating for tanzania, we only have the GOTZ regulating IT activities. Which is a disaster.. we know the perfomance of govermnets.

Look at this page with sample membership benefits for the Computer society of kenya.. The Computer Society of Kenya - Membership Benefits
