So much hot air for the Mossad competence. Third world intelligence could have done a better job on this. This is what happen when you stay on the European and American welfare for so long. It's about time to stop all the aid to the state that sponsers terror.

The Mossad was in the hot seat on Wednesday over the murder of a top Hamas man in Dubai, as at least seven Israelis said their identities were stolen by the assassins, widely thought to be agents of the Jewish state's infamous secret service.

The killing of top Hamas militant Mahmud al-Mabhuh while on a weapons purchasing trip to Dubai last month has widely been blamed on the Mossad, although no evidence has yet linked the agency, which in keeping with tradition has kept mum on the affair.

But suspicions deepened after Dubai this week released the photos and names of the 11 European passport holders -- six from Britain, three from Ireland, one from Germany and one from France -- alleged to have been members of the hit squad.

Shortly afterwards, Britain, France and Ireland said that the passports used in the operation were faked and at least seven of the "assassins" turned out to be dual national Israelis whose passports appeared to have been stolen. "Since I realized that they used my identity and my name, I've been walking around like a zombie," Paul John Keally, an Israeli-British citizen, told the Israeli media. "I woke up this morning and suddenly my life is like an espionage movie. It is all very worrying but I know I have not done anything wrong," he was quoted as saying by Britain's Daily Mail. "I have not left Israel for two years and I certainly have not been to Dubai recently," he said.

The wife of Stephen Hodes, another British-Israeli and a physiotherapist living west of Jerusalem, echoed the sentiment, telling Maariv: "It started like a story that made us laugh, but now we don't know how to take it." As the Israelis struggled to come to terms with their newfound fame as international "assassins," the Israeli press skewered the operation that it has widely laid at the feet of the storied Mossad. "A successful operation? Not so sure," read a headline in the mass-selling Yediot Aharonot daily. "Cracks are appearing more and more in this operation which at first looked like a grand success."

Wrote Maariv: "Whoever assassinated senior Hamas figure Mahmud al-Mabhuh is in trouble... The intelligence was of high quality, the implementation was polished, the assassins entered and left Dubai safely, everything went like clockwork. Unfortunately, so did the security cameras." A columnist in the left-leaning Haaretz called for the resignation of Mossad chief Meir Dagan over the affair and one in the right-wing Israel Hayom questioned the wisdom of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu having extended Dagan's mandate to a fifth year.

Dubai police announced on Monday that it was hunting six British passport holders, three with Irish passports, including a woman, and the holders of a German and a French passport, all of whom had managed to leave the UAE after the assassination. British, French and Irish officials said on Tuesday that the passports were fake.

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, has accused Israel of killing Mabhuh, 50, and vowed revenge. Its members have said Mabhuh, who was based in Damascus, was on a visit to Dubai to buy weapons for Hamas's armed wing of which he was a founder.

That was a classic well excuted plan, they will keep on doing it to defend themselves and their territory.

A very miscalculated move and amateurish at best. This is what Mossad of today has become?
Stealing identities of your own citizen and put then in more danger, using european passports from countries that always supported Israel and Isolating yourself more from the rest of the world? It's about time to get rid of this Israeli administration. Istead of working for peace they create more enemies. First Turkey and then Dubai what is next? Dubai is one of the more tolerant neighbor towards Israel.

Have your say: Israel

"The Dubai police have provided no incriminating proof," a senior official told AFP, asking not to be identified.
Dubai police chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan said on Thursday he wanted Mossad chief Meir Dagan arrested if the agency is behind last month's killing of Mahmud al-Mabhuh, a top commander of the Islamist Hamas movement that rules Gaza.
"The threats against Meir Dagan are absurd," the Israeli official said. "The accusations are baseless. Police have not explained the circumstances of his death, or even any proof that he's been assassinated," he said.
Mahmud al-Mabhuh, one of the founders of Hamas's military wing, was found dead in his Dubai hotel room on January 20. Related article: Mossad chief keeps to the shadows after Dubai killing
Khalfan has said the Hamas official "was strangled after receiving maybe an electric shock." He said the killers had reserved a room across the hall from Mabhuh's in the hotel.
Police said Mabhuh, who was reportedly on a trip to buy arms for Hamas, was transiting on his way to China, then Sudan.
No government has directly accused Israel, although Dubai police chief Khalfan said he was near certain the hit was carried out by the Mossad. Israel's fabled foreign espionage agency has used fake passports in similar operations in the past.
The British Foreign Office, meanwhile, issued a "strong rebuttal" on Friday of a story in the Daily Mail, which quoted an unnamed member of Israel's Mossad spy agency as saying London was tipped off hours before the killing.
"Any suggestion that we knew anything about the murder in Dubai before it happened, including about the misuse of British passports, is completely untrue," a spokesman said.
Interpol on Thursday issued arrest notices for 11 suspects -- six listed with British passports, three Irish, one French and one German -- wanted by Dubai for the killing.
But Ronen Bergman, military correspondent for the Yediot Aharonot newspaper and an expert on Mossad, said whoever carried out the hit was unlikely to get caught.
"The operatives are long gone and the Dubai police has no chance to catch them. They are chasing the wind; they will never catch them," he told AFP.
The killers' use of allegedly fake passports prompted Britain, Ireland, France and Germany on Thursday to call in Israeli envoys for talks at their foreign ministries.
The Israeli official played down the issue. "Israel was only asked to help investigate the use of the fake passports."
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Thursday stressed the need for a "full investigation," while Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin announced "frank" talks with Israel's envoy -- usually diplomatic code for angry exchanges.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman will face tough questioning on Monday when he meets European counterparts in Brussels, in a trip that was planned before the Dubai murder.
While some Israeli media have expressed concern the hit placed Israel in the eye of a diplomatic storm, the Haaretz newspaper quoted an official as predicting "the affair will quickly subside."
And, Israeli media also point out that despite the controversy over the hit, Western governments are not mourning Mabhuh.
"Whichever agency carried out the hit, with whatever cooperation from elsewhere, it achieved its critical goals -- the target was eliminated and the squad made its escape," the English-language Jerusalem Post said in an editorial.
The newspaper took aim at the "kerfuffle" in the British media over the affair, saying "this pigheaded refusal to acknowledge that sometimes the needs do justify the means reflect a moral impoverishment that's not limited to Britain."

Hili tukio la kuuawa halina uhusiano wa moja kwa moja na Israel au Mosad, kama kuna mtu ana ushahidi alete!

The Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, otherwise known as the Mossad, has been appointed by the State of Israel to collect information, analyze intelligence, and perform special covert operations beyond its borders.

Tanzania ina nini?

  • Dubai probe reveals wiring was tampered with
  • Britons' passports 'were secretly copied by Israeli airport officials' for use by hit squad
  • Killers may have British links, experts say
The hit squad behind the assassination of a Hamas commander in a Dubai hotel tried to make his death look like an accident by electrocuting him with a bedside lamp.

Police sources said the killers, who used fake British passports, tried to ‘induce the effects of a heart attack’ before smothering Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh with a pillow in his room.

It is understood that the lamp was taken apart and the wiring attached to a device that pulsed electricity into his body.

Hamas chief: Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh poses in military garb with his rifle

An electric shock can make the heart muscles go into spasm, just as they would if a victim suffered from a heart attack brought on by high blood pressure.

Police said they found pills used to treat high blood pressure in Al-Mabhouh’s room.

The revelations come as the row between Israel and Britain reached a new pitch amid claims that the fake British passports used by the killers had been secretly copied by Tel Aviv airport immigration officials.

The Israeli ambassador to London has been accused of ‘stonewalling’ all attempts to find out how the killers had the passports.

But the Foreign Office has been told that all six of the genuine passport holders - all residents in Israel - had their documents briefly taken away at the airport during routine checks.

The claims will put fresh pressure on Israel to come clean over any involvement in the killing, with investigators in Dubai ‘99 per cent certain’ that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad is responsible.

But it was claimed last night that some of the killers may actually be British nationals. International security officials say spies tend to use ‘legends’ – fake identities – close to their own and it is likely that the six killers carrying British passports had some connection with Britain.

Tailed: Al-Mabhouh is followed to his hotel room by agents in tennis kit

Dubai police confirmed they now believe the hit squad tried to make the Palestinian’s death seem like a heart attack.

When he was discovered by a cleaner and member of security at lunchtime the day after his murder, he was wearing only a pair of black shorts under the bed sheets.

However, a source said there were tell-tale burn marks on his chest from an electric shock.

A later post-mortem showed that he had been killed by suffocation but ‘without the need for violence’.

Earlier this week police unveiled CCTV footage of the assassins’ movements in the hours before and after Al-Mabhouh’s death.

However, a Mail on Sunday investigation can reveal further details of the audacious operation.

The 18-strong team had lain in wait for Al-Mabhouh – who was travelling under the fake name of Mahmoud Abdul Ra’ouf Mohammed – before tracking him down to Dubai’s Al Bustan Rotana hotel near the airport.

He had arrived on Emirates flight EK912 from Damascus and had used a fake passport.

The killers had planted a tracker device in his rented Toyota Land Cruiser and tailed him to his hotel.

Al-Mabhouh, 49, was followed to room 230 by two men in tennis outfits. In the few hours before his death, Al-Mabhouh made a visit to the Dubai Mall where he bought a pair of shoes.

He returned to his room at 8.24pm and his killers were in place. It is believed that he was overpowered by four men shortly afterwards when he answered the door.

A woman travelling under the Irish passport of Gail Folliard stood watch outside in the corridor.

Deadly: Bedside lamps in a hotel room similar to the one used by the assassinated Hamas commander

A source told The Mail on Sunday that the Dubai police are working on the theory that the lamp to the right-hand side of Al-Mabhouh’s bed was then taken apart to provide live wiring which was attached to an unknown device.

However, the source added that because CCTV footage showed the agents were there for just 22 minutes, the investigators believed the electric current was not used to torture him.

Initial autopsy results show that Al-Mabhouh’s cause of death was by suffocation with a pillow or another soft object.

The source added: ‘Within 25 minutes of the discovery of the body, the hotel notified the police. The first attendees were six officers and then a whole team came within 40 minutes. The number reached 15.

‘He was on the bed on his back covered with the bed sheets up to his neck, wearing black shorts.

‘Pillows were in place and the room appeared normal with curtains closed. Signs of movement to the lamp’s wiring was only later discovered. We believe the papers he was carrying were copied.’

As they left, the killers mysteriously managed to put the latch and chain on the inside of the door.

But investigations by The Mail on Sunday show that the proportions of the hotel room make that a simple process for a woman with slender arms.

The startling events of January 20 received global attention last week when Dubai police revealed that six of the assassins had been travelling with British passports, three with Irish passports and one each from France and Germany.

It has since emerged that a further two Irish passports were used.

Yesterday it was reported in the United Arab Emirates that flights for the suspected Mossad agents from France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland were paid for with fake credit cards carrying the same identities as the fake passports.

All but one of the British men whose identity was used have come forward to proclaim their innocence and Foreign Secretary David Miliband has called the use of fake British passports ‘an outrage’.

Residents of Kibbutz Givat Ha’shlosha, in central Israel, claimed the man who had not come forward was called James Clarke and that he had gone into hiding.

They said he had arrived at the kibbutz as a volunteer, converted to Judaism, married an Israeli woman and served in the Israeli army.

Extra officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), which is leading the British investigation, arrived in Dubai yesterday to work with an established team already posted there.
