I am not talking about Intelligence organs just in case wengine mtakuwa hamujuui nina maanisha nini maybe definition ya ninachokizungumzia ni:

New labour walivyotake over hapa nazungumzia the Milliband and Darlings lot.

Sasa hivi inasikitisha jinsi magazeti yetu na owners wao walivyokuwa out of touch na saa zingine mambo yanaendelea mpaka unajuliza hivi hawa INTELIGENSTSIA wetu wako wapi?

Is it fair to say kuwa maybe the GOLDEN AGE ya TANZANIAN SOCIETY haijawahi kuexist? lakini mbona sisi tulikuwa ni Mecca ya ukombozi kusimi mwa Africa back in the day?

Hivi kama kweli tunategemea magazeti kama KULIKONI,MWANAHALISI,THIS DAY, TANZANIA DAIMA kuset the agenda then we are doomed its always good to see vitu kama ethinktanktz au Jamii forums japo tuna pishana kwa mengi lakini najua JF sasa hivi ni kama one stop shop kwa waandihsi wetu wavivu wasiotaka kufikiri wala kufanya research ya articles zao.

Kitu kingine nimegundua kuwa hatuna hata ma art crtics ambao wako reliable The same is true for architecture - a controversial building quickly becomes dull, then embarrassingly old-fashioned before becoming a classic mfano mzuri ni lile jengo la Bunge Dodoma lilozungukwa ma ma godowns.

Anyway it would really good to read opinions za wana JF kuhusu hili

    GF,

Albert Einstein alisema "A foolish respect for authority is the worst enemy of truth" and without truth there is no real progress.

Tuko katika situation ambayo ukikaa na mtu (very influential, and definitely in the know) one on one atakwambia anajua kwamba Seif Sharif Hamad alishinda uchaguzi Zanzibar lakini CCM ilimfanyia manouvre, hii ni open secret.

    2. Jamii "zilizoendelea" zimefikia hapo at great expense, wamarekani wamepigana vita ku-upreserve muungano wao, Wafaransa wamechinjana sana katika mapinduzi yao and so on and so forth all over Europe and North America.Kwao hawa mambo kama "democracy" "principles" "fairness" and all sio rhjetoric kama kwetu, sisi tumeletewa tu haya mambo, mifumo yetu ilikuwa ya uchifu na u Farao, chifu akisema go go, tunajenga mi piramidi at the expense of millions of lives just for the glory of the Pharaoh, poa.Kwa hiyo hizi habari za kuletewa an imposed democracy na people participation in government ziko very alien, na intellectuals wetu wansoma vitabu na kujua what should take place in principle (CCM MPs should reject stupid bills from their party) lakini hata waliosoma hawafanyi hivyo, kwa sababu hata yule mbunge ambaye hajaenda shule ana some innate Machiavellian nature ya kujua kwamba "you do not cross the party, else the bigwigs will eat you alive". Hatujawa na some "Great Schism" au some "World War" of our own ya kutufanya tu hold dear haya mambo, tunaona principle yetu ni game ya Darwinian survival tu.

3.Kuendekeza Njaa kali.

Hapa tunakuja kwenye a vicious cycle of poverty, hatuendelei kwa sababu hatuna maendeleo yanayojijenga, baya zaidi tunarudi nyuma.

Ukiona mambo yanaenda vizuri, well kazi ya serikali.Mambo yasipoenda vizuri hapo ndipo kazi ya msomi kukosoa. In the current state of affairs, waache wakoseoe tu kwa sababu kukosoa huku ni kujenga kwa njia ya kuonmyesha udhaifu, sasa sehemu ambayo hapana udhaifu na watu wameshafanya vizuri utapajenga vipi?

Interesting observations you just reminded me this quote:
    source:

Conventional wisdom inasema kuwa the true intelligentsia lie very low. High brow culture vultures and and clever people are not widely appreciated in the TANZANIA, and there's also a history of feuding between the disparate brain cells, so to speak

    Or so I'm told.

That said, I think - we seem to have a tradition in TZ of a) (self-)deprecation of intellect and b) a rather disparate approach to the various types of intellectual pursuit. The brightest person I have ever known (I was at school with him, and friends for some years afterwards until we disagreed on some things) has been close to the centre of political power for more than 15 years, with a couple of sabbaticals in world economic/financial organisations. But he's pretty much unknown, and I wouldn't class him as being 'of the Intelligentsia' in any case. Scholars and academics in Tanzania I have known aren't, either, however brilliant.

I am often astonished at the power of intellect and breadth of culture among some Humanists experts - especially fellow in IR. But who listens to them, eh?

Nas paraphrased Socrates and said "Those who know don't talk, those who talk don't know a thing"

Those who really can lead, critique etc etc, understand the system so well and know what it means (in terms of hardships and sacrifices) to stand up, so they don't.

Those who stand up are mere mediocres like me (taking your advice) and either don't have the right doze and quality of information to make them effective (critics) don't have the brains and commitment to be effective (the Kikwetes of our world) and so on and so forth.

Namjua mtu mmoja ambaye kama angekuwa mbunge bongo bunge lingewaka moto, hususan kwa issues nzito, lakini alingalia akaona ili kuwa mbunge bongo inabidi to a large extent u sign na mafisadi wa CCM. Akaona bora lawama kuliko fedheha.

    Ndiyo hali yetu hiyo.

'Intelligentsia wa watanzania wako wapi?' Is it really?

We don’t need intellectuals wa watanzania. We ourselves are more intelligent than those you think are intellects. Talk about RAI do you really know the brain behind it?

Think of it why even mention that you are in London – UK ‘kasumba ya mkoloni I presume’. Come on GT we know your beef with Kulikoni and This day ‘cause of your friend or what should I say Dau of NSSF. If you can do better why can't you start a tabloid and eh call it 'Politics theory' just like game theory.

Dau has lost big time and should be sacked forthwith – FAILED miserably. Imagine if he would have been a governor of BOT the way you wanted?

Tanzania is in a phase to weed all rotten bastards and soon rather than latter we will reclaim our destiny. Don't use your little brain and think you can deter the momentum started for the sake of your selfishness.

No offense but the English the guy used is so POOR to an extent that it renders his message incomprehensible. Completely "Broken English", poor punctuation, poor style etc. I think any message must be clearly presented. I totally understand that what people are discussing here are very serious matters, but by asking him to write clearly I think it is to his and our advantage, stupid.
