President Jakaya Kiwete and his family have no any business relations with a Dar es Salaam company, Home Shopping Centre (HSC), it has been clarified.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications in
Dar es Salaam on Monday responding to a recent story in a local tabloid noted that President Kikwete has invested modestly in livestock keeping and agriculture.

A local tabloid recently carried a story alleging that President Kikwete and his family owned shares in HSC. "The story was engineered to tarnish the president's image and that of his family," reads the statement.

It noted further that President Kikwete does not own or run any business and that he only owns some farms in Sanzale, Kiwanga and Msoga in Coast Region.

"President Kikwete's main interest is in livestock keeping and agriculture. Most of his investments are still at primary stages and far from going commercial," reads another part. It further noted that the fabricated story had damaged the reputation of the President and that of his family and urged the concerned tabloid to consider an apology or else legal measures would be taken against it.
