    [​IMG]Watu wengi wamekuwa wakitumia neno CPU wakimaanisha Kompyuta,ila leo tutaona tofauti iliyopo kati ya CPU na Kompyuta,na kwanini watu wanapenda kutumia neno CPU wakimaanisha Kompyuta.Pia tutaitazama CPU kwa ukaribu zaidi kuona ina nini ndani yake na infanya vipi kazi.
    Neno CPU kwa kirefu ni Central Processing Unit pia inajulikana kama Microprocessor Unit.Ila watu wengi upenda kutumia neno CPU au Processor.Yote ni kitu kile kile.CPU ni kichwa cha kompyuta,wengine upenda kusema CPU ni moyo wa kompyuta.Hii ina maana kwamba CPU ni kiungo muhimu sana kwenye Kompyuta kama vilivyo Moyo na Kichwa kwenye mwili wa binadamu.Kutokana na umuhimu huu wa CPU kwenye Kompyuta ndo maana watu wengi wanatumia neno CPU wakimaanisha kompyuta.

    Ufahamu wa CPU utakusaidia kujua unahitajika kutumia softwares gani,hardwares gani,Operating Systems gani,pia Kompyuta yako ina nguvu kiasi gani bila kusahau bei ya Kompyuta inategemea sana CPU iliyotumika kwenye Kompyuta hiyo.
    CPU zina matoleo mengi sana na mpaka sasa makampuni yanayoongoza kwa uzalishaji wa CPU za desktop na laptop computers ni Intel na AMD.
    CPU ina umuhimu gani?
    CPU ni kikokotoo(calculator) chenye nguvu sana. Inafanya hesabu za kujumlisha,kutoa,kuzidisha na kugawanya kwa haraka sana.Kwa maana nyingine mambo yote au kazi zote unazozifanya kwenye Kompyuta yako kupitia softwares au Operating System,zinabadilishwa kwenda kwenye binary(1 au 0).Baada ya kubadilishwa kwenda kwenye binary basi CPU inazifanyia hizo binary mahesabu ya kujumlisha,kutoa,kuzidisha na kugawanya kwa haraka sana na kukupa jibu au kitendo unachotarajia.Sio uchawi ni hesabu tu za kujumlisha,kutoa,kuzidisha na kugawanya.
    Kwenye ufanyaji kazi CPU lazima iwe na mawasiliano na Memory(RAM),pia mawasiliano na Motherboard kupitia kwenye waya mahususi.
    Michoro hapo chini inaonyesha uhusiano uliopo kati ya mtumiaji wa kompyuta pamoja na CPU na hardware nyingine za Kompyuta.

    Sehemu muhimu za CPU
    CPU inasehemu muhimu zifuatazo Control Unit,Arithmetic and Logic Unit(ALU) na Registers.

    Control Unit(Instruction Fetcher and Decoder) hii inafanya kazi ya ku-control mambo yote yanayoendelea ndani ya CPU,pia ku-control Input na Output devices za kompyuta.Input devices ni kama keyboard na mouse.Output devices ni kama monitor na speakers.Pia inafanya kazi ya kuchukua maelekezo(instructions) kutoka kwenye programu ambazo zipo kwenye Main Memory(RAM) na kuzitafsri kwenda kwenye machine language na baadae kutoa ishara ambazo zitapelekea sehemu husika kuyafanyia kazi maelekezo hayo.
    Arithmetic and Logic Unit(ALU) hii sehemu inachukua data kutoka kwenye Memory na kuzifanyia mahesabu na ufananishaji.Arithemetic unit ya ALU inafanya mahesabu ya kujumlisha,kutoa,kuzidisha na kugawanya.Logic unit ya ALU inafanya ufananishaji wa data,kwa kuangalia data moja na nyingine kama ni ndogo kuliko,sawa sawa au kubwa kuliko.
    Registers ni kama memory ndogo ndani ya CPU.Zinahifadhi data na maelekezo kwa mda wakati ALU inapokuwa inafanya kazi.Pia inahifadhi data na maelekezo kutoka kwenye Main memory(RAM) wakati yakisubiri kufanyiwa kazi na ALU.
    Matoleo ya CPU
    CPU zipo kwenye makundi makuu mawili,CPU kwa ajili ya Laptop na CPU kwa ajili ya Desktop Kompyuta.CPU kwa ajili ya Desktop zina nguvu zaidi kulinganisha na CPU kwa ajili ya Laptop ata kama jina la toleo zinafanana.Na hii ni kwasababu ya kwamba Laptops zinahitaji kutumia umeme mdogo,pia zinatakiwa zisiwe za moto sana kutokana na nafasi ndogo ya hardware.Kwahiyo hivi vitu vyote vitahitaji CPU ambayo inatumia power kidogo,kwa maana nyingine utendaji wa CPU inabidi kupunguzwa kidogo ili kufikiana na hayo matakwa.
    Kama nlivyosema mwanzoni watengenezaji wakubwa wa CPU kwa ajili ya Laptop na Desktop ni Intel na AMD.Hawa wanamatoleo mengi sana,ambayo yanaweza kukuchanganya uchague lipi uache lipi pale inapofika kwenye ununuzi wa CPU au ununuzi wa Kompyuta kwa ujumla.Maana CPU ni kiungo muhimu sana cha kompyuta.Basi usisite kufwatilia muendelezo wa makala hii.Ntakuchambulia kundani vitu gani vya kuangalia unapofikia sasa swala la kuchagua CPU ya kutumia.

    Hapo mzee napingana nawe Dr. MziziMkavu. CPU speed in uwezo wa ku process instructions per given time. Sasa kama zina Uwezo sawa wa ku process na kuhifadhi vitu, then ziko sawa. Kuna some aspect Desktop is powerful than Laptop. Mfano sauti ya laptop lazima itakuwa kidogo kwa sababu ukuzaji wa sauti (amplification) unategemea Nguvu ya umeme (Power=VxI).
