Makadara MP Gidion Mbuvi alias Sonko was on Wednesday charged with two counts of malicious damage and stealing a vehicle clamp belonging to Nairobi City Council.
The MP could serve 3 years for damaging the vehicle clamp and an additional seven years for stealing it.
The offences he's accused of were committed outside Nation Center, along Kimathi Street on Monday.
The MP appeared before Chief Magistrate, Gilbert Mutembei where he denied the charges.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector, Onesmus Towett substituted the charges to include others who were not before the court.
Mr Mutinda applied for a reasonable bail stating that the accused person is an elected Member of Parliament for Makadara.
Mr Mbuvi was released on Sh10,000 cash bail and the case will be heard on September 15, 2011.
