Hundreds of Kenyan workers have been rescued from hostile United Arab Emirates and returned home.
Most of the more than 460 workers brought home by the government were house-helps. They complained of mistreatment by their employers.
Kenya's ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammed Saleh said that in the past few months the government has rescued girls who had been lured by agents with promises of huge salaries, only to find themselves in a hostile environment.
Mr Saleh said that besides those who have been repatriated, another 25 workers were in rescue centres waiting to be brought home.
He said the government was cracking down on bogus recruitment agencies to save Kenyans from a life of misery in foreign lands.
"The government is vetting all employment bureaus to ensure they take full responsibility for any worker they send to the UAE," Mr Saleh said.
He said most Kenyans seeking jobs in Saudi Arabia did not follow proper procedures.

it is sad to read such kind of stories. i appreciate the govt is bringing them back but that is a reaction to something, the GOK should be pro active on this issue and weed out these "agencies" that are conducting 21st century

also i think Kenyans should also be more careful and vigilant against such unscrupulous agencies ferrying Kenyans to be slaves in the Arabian peninsula

I don't support any mistreatment of any human being as in ISLAM this is condemened in most strong terms. Read the Koran and traditions of Prophet so anybody found guilty should be put to trail in courts. But to answer your short decision you need to find out who is the source of this problem?.1.O In UAE and ask those who visit Dubai will tell yuo the population of foreigners is overwhelming locals. The foreigners ranges from Asia, Europe,America Africa etc so it is like a Global village and naturally such abuses cannot be attributed to Arabs only. For your information the biggest slave trade was practiced by Europeans with largest ships to America and for EA the beneficially were mainly Western powers and some Asian countries and blame in the end was squarely to Arabs! You need to get historians wo are not baised and not church oriented to get the right story.2.Problem orginates from Kenya itself some fellow Kenyans are cheating their own citizens for sake of making money. This is called human trafficing. In some countries Europe, Asia and Africa itself they lure young girls and export them to prostitutions. Kenya should put srong laws to fight human trafiicking and halt this one. 3.The abuse of the weak is everywhere because everywhere there are majority good people and minority of bad people. Don't tell me this does not happen in Kenya, Tanzania. You have even the worst of treatment of African to Africans but go unnoticed because media ha no interest to report this! Just do some research you will find horrofic intra African treatment. You will need to join rank to fight injustice of any kind anywhere. We are told an Arab is no better than a non Arab, a red person is no better than a black person and vise versa. All human are equal to God.
