LEWIS HAMILTON made a powerful return to the track in Spain yesterday as a desert storm hit his rivals.
The F1 world champ was quickest of the drivers using their 2009 cars at sunny Jerez ahead of the first race of the season in Australia on March 29.
Hamilton racked up 93 laps in his McLaren MP4-24 machine.
But Ferraris Kimi Raikkonen and BMWs Robert Kubica were unable to drive in Bahrain for the second day running because of sandstorms.
Hamilton, 24, said: Im very encouraged. The car feels strong.
