Well, I know this story is posted somewhere around here. But, after my conversation with a number of wadau, I have come to theorize that the current tax regime for phone companies (telecommunication) is somewhat fueling petty corruption as well as grand corruption. I intend to show in an upcoming report/ story that my theory indeed is reasonably true. For those of you who use phone service in TZ help me answer these questions just to give my an idea which I'll try (with the help of others) to prove the existence of a linkage between current phone service in TZ and the prominence of petty corruption. a. How many phone lines do you currently own? b. What major phone companies do you use? c. What would you consider to be your monthly average bills for all the phone services? d. How do you afford to pay for all phone services - your phone bill is what percent of your expenditure? e. What percent of your income is the the amount of money you spend on phone services? f. If you were given an option to have a phone service with an unlimited service for a flat rate for standard services would you continue to have more than one line? Standard services: Free local calls, standard rate for interconnection to other carriers, free long distance, free sms and free voicemail?
