GOTEBORG AWARD TO Dr. Anna Tibaijuka on 24th Nov 09

Dear women,
I have no way of celebrating the prestigious award that our Tanzanian lady Dr Anna got except to let all of you know about it and be proud of our hero. Competition in getting this award is intense and for Anna to get it is not only a recognition of her tireless efforts to humanity but it is a pride of our country Tanzania and of women in Tanzania that if we are given an opportunity we can excel. I feel very disheartened that our newspapers have nothing much about it except Mwananchi who wrote in the 4th page without even a picture of our beautiful hero on it. Meanwhile on the front page there is a big picture of our ex president as usual on issues which will sell the newspaper than to put a picture of Tibaijuka who is putting Tanzania in the chat on 24th Nov. 2009. Who ever receives this note please pass it over and if there is anyway you can use your organization yourself to shout about it please do. Her success is a success of women and men of this country. Also, say a special prayer for her on 24th Nov, as she receives the award in Stockholm.

Congratulations to Mama Tibaijuka,
But on the other hand, how does putting Tanzania on the chart help my fellas at the village? How do Tanzania village women benefit from that? Iam not really discouraging her efforts but is such kind of "misifa" that has lead us to this point. Tunataka sifa toka kwa watu wa nje, mara tunasaidia comoro, mara ukombozi, lakini huku kwetu hakuna tunachofanya na tunaishia kuwa masikini wa kutupwa!
Remember charity should begin at home but.......

This means that the battle to create more sustainable cities and urban environments - environmentally and socially - is one of the most decisive factors facing the UN Climate Change Conference Copenhagen in December.

· Enrique Peñalosa, Bogotá, Colombia and
· Sören Hermansen, Samsö, Denmark

The Göteborg Award - "The Nobel Prize in Environment" - celebrates its ten year jubilee in 2009. We are thrilled to award our jubilee prize to these brilliant visionaries, strategists and system transformers," says Stefan Edman, Chairman of the Award Jury since its conception in 2000.
This is the tenth Göteborg Award and the total amount of the prize is one million Swedish crowns. The Award was founded by the City of Göteborg and several interested companies in 1999. Its purpose is to "stimulate further positive developments and recognize strategic work for national and international sustainable development".
It is funded by the City together with the Second Swedish National Pension Fund, Carl Bennet AB, Elanders AB, Eldan Recycling, Folksam, Götaverken Miljö, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Peab, Schenker AB, SKF and The Swedish Co-operative Union (KF).
The Award winners will receive their prize at a prize ceremony on the 26th of November in Göteborg.

Japokuwa kwa vigezo vyako itakuwa huyu mama hajafanya kitu kutokana na kuwa hajamsaidia directly mwanakijiji kule Sumbawanga kupiga matuta ya muhogo kwa urahisi, but, internationally kafanya mengi to help mankind in general. Hapa ninaweza kidogo kugusia zile reforms alizozileta katika United Nations Centre for Human Settlements mpaka wakubwa ikabidi hii Centre wai-upgrade to a programme status na ikaitwa UN-HABITAT. Hilo halikuwa jambo dogo, kwani HABITAT leo inasaidia wengi wa mjini na vijijini.

Ama kweli sasa naamini watanzania wanajua historia ya jana na leo, miaka kumi iliyopita kwao ni zama za giza! Prof Dr. Anna Tibaijuka, ni mmoja ya walimu mahiri aliyefundisha hata chuo kikuu cha Dar, ambapo hao watoto wawakulima walisoma, kisiasa ndiye aliyepambana na CCM waliouteka Umoja wa Wanawake Tanzania, alipokuwa mmoja wa waanzilisha wa baraza la wanawake Tanzania ambalo lilikuwa lisiwe chini ya makucha ya CCM bali kwa ajili ya akinamama wote likiwa na lengo hasa la kuwawezesha wakinamama wote wasibakie wakolezaji wa siasa za mfumo dume Tanzania kama ilivyo UWT ya Sophia Simba na Mafisadi. Azma yake hiyo ilipingwa na Wana-CCM na Rais Mwinyi na hata na baadhi ya Wanawake hasa viongozi UWT!!! Baadaye Baraza lilifutiwa usajili na Rais! Ingawaje baadaye akiwa amekwisha kwenda nje alishinda kesi ya kufutiwa usajili wa Baraza! Ndipo mama huyu alihamishia kipaji na elimu yake katika maswala ya kimataifa, ambapo amefanya mengi sana na HABITAT. Hivi sasa anasaidia mipango miji hasa makazi yasiyopimwa kwa wahitaji. Dar inafaidika na nchi nyingi masikini pia. Anna ni shujaa wa kupigania watu wanaoishi katika slums! Watanzania tujivunie Prof.Dr. Anna Tibaijuka... CCM rejected her at home but she's our pride internationally! Congrats Anna!
