Three officials representing Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) told Reuters on Wednesday that Muammar Gaddafi's son Mo'tassim was captured in Sirte on Tuesday, trying to escape the town in a car with a family. He was taken to Benghazi on Wednesday morning where he was questioned, they said. They gave no further details.
The NTC officials, based in Sirte and Benghazi, declined to be named but have provided accurate information to Reuters before.

Not confirmed yet. NTC are not to be trusted (based on previous experience). Let's wait for independent confirmation!

@NewsBalkan: #Libya Mutassim Gaddafi have just spoken on #Algeria radio, HE IS NOT ARRESTED, just another #NATO's PSY-OP*.. Will they get tired of lies?

Aljazeera English "Only one NTC member claims Mutasim Gaddafi is captured other NTC dont know where he got his information"

    Online reports are clearly conflicting!

oh yeah i saw it on CCN International as well as Ajazeera

Mutassim Gaddafi, one of ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi's sons, has been arrested in Sirte, according to officials in Libya's National Transitional Council.
He is currently being held in Benghazi, the NTC's eastern power base, after being arrested on Wednesday, NTC officials told the Reuters news agency.
"He was arrested today in Sirte," Colonel Abdullah Naker of the Tripoli Revolutionary Council told Reuters.
Fighters in Sirte were reportedly celebrating the news of his arrest on Wednesday night, while citizens in the capital Tripoli took the streets to sound their car horns and fire guns into the sky.
James Bays, reporting from Tripoli, said he had spoken with several high-level NTC officials who had heard the news but could not confirm it. A spokesman for the military said he had not spoken with anyone who had seen Mutassim in custody.
The NTC claimed in August to have captured Gaddafi's highest-profile son, Saif al-Islam, during the final battle for the capital, but that claim turned out to be false, and Saif appeared in public hours later.
If Mutassim was captured, the NTC will be eager to question him regarding the whereabouts of his father and brothers, who are thought to have fled Tripoli as it fell into opposition hands in late August.
Mutassim served as his father's national security adviser while the regime was still in power, but was not seen as being as prominent as Saif al-Islam, Saadi or Khamis, three of his other brothers.
Saif was considered Gaddafi's likely successor, Saadi was known for his failed Italian football career, and Khamis controlled the country's most powerful military unit, which was named after him.
All four, particularly Mutassim, Saif and Khamis, are loathed by many Libyans for the role they played in Gaddafi's authoritarian state and in the crackdown against the revolution.
Saif, Saadi and Khamis's whereabouts are unknown.

This one sounds like a mantra, an aphorism, et alia. To be broadcasted on CNN or Al Jazeera does not necessarily mean the news is credible. There are ample examples to this effect. So far, almost all news agencies, online and offline, are reporting this piece of news with caution:

To quote from your piece of news:

James Bays, reporting from Tripoli, said he had spoken with several high-level NTC officials who had heard the news but could not confirm it. A spokesman for the military said he had not spoken with anyone who had seen Mutassim in custody.
The NTC claimed in August to have captured Gaddafi's highest-profile son, Saif al-Islam, during the final battle for the capital, but that claim turned out to be false, and Saif appeared in public hours later.

Gaddafi son still on run – commander

    2011-10-13 10:59
Sirte - A senior military commander inside Sirte said on Thursday that Muammar Gaddafi's son Mutassim remains on the run, denying an announcement by the political leadership in Tripoli that he was in custody.

"It is not true that Mutassim was captured," said Wesam Bin Hamid, brigade commander of the Martyrs of Free Libya Brigade, one of the new regime's main units inside Gaddafi's hometown.

"But some prisoners we have captured are saying that Gaddafi [himself] is in Sirte," Bin Hamid added.

You are wrong, Bro.

Hata usemeje, kwangu mimi Gaddafi alikuwa dikteta in the same vein as Charles Taylor, Jean Bedel Bokassa, Marcias Nguema et.al, na amechangia sana kusambaratika kwa Libya. Gaddafi was just another NATO puppet. He was not and will never be an African revolutionay, as far as I am concerned. To label him a revolutionary is tantamount to chasing a wicked illusion!!!

Ahsante!! Mie ninaelewa kinachoendelea Libya, that is why nikasema sijakuelewa unachokisema..

Ukweli utajulikana tu wote wataaibika!! Ghaddafi..
