    Former slum dweller in Olympic torch relay


    Julius Mwelu became part of history when he participated in the Olympic Torch Relay in Norwich City, United Kingdom early this month.The former Mathare resident who works with UN-Habitat staff as a photographer was chosen for his personal achievement and contribution to the community.

    Julius took the replica torch to the slum where as he continues the legacy of youth empowerment through photography and sports. By the time the games kick off on Friday, some 8,000 torchbearers will have carried the flame through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages in the United Kingdom.
