    After an overwhelming response from our readers, FORBES AFRICA presents the top 5 nominations for Person of the Year 2012. These individuals have been nominated by you because of their impact on African business in the past year.


    Read about each nominee by placing your cursor over their picture. Vote for who you believe deserves to hold this prestigious title. Tell your friends about it by tweeting (your vote #forbesafricapoty). Voting closes on Thursday, 1st November. The Person of the Year will be revealed at a FORBES AFRICA event in Nigeria. Read our in-depth features about the nominees and the winner in the December/January issue of FORBES AFRICA.
    The results will also be announced on CNBC Africa, DSTV 410.

    Voting closes on Thursday, 1 November 2012 and the winner will revealed at an event in Nigeria. Another contender for the title is Nigerian Aliko Dangote: founder and president of Dangote Group, Africa's richest man, worth more $11.2 billion.
    The finalists also include Dr James Mwangi, CEO of Kenya's Equity Bank Limited; Tony Elumelu who is founder and chairman of Heirs Holding; Stephen Saad, the co-founder of the Aspen Pharmacare.
    According to Forbes, these individuals were nominated by its readers because of their impact on African business in the past year.
    Earlier, President Banda was ranked the most powerful woman in Africa by Forbes magazine's annual survey.
