'Egyptians opposed to Camp David'

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Egyptian people are against the US-sponsored Camp David Accords that was engineered to forge peace between Egypt and the Israeli regime in 1978.
According to Press TV, Salehi told Asia Times on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York that Egyptians “share our view on the Camp David -- that it was not framed in the best interest of Egypt, and that Israel and the West have never sought Egypt's prosperity.”
The top Iranian diplomat stressed that the so-called Egypt-Israel 'peace' deal did not provide Egyptians with full sovereignty over the Sinai Desert and in some respect the country “cannot implement its national sovereignty.”
Recently, Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said that the 32-year-old treaty was ''not a sacred thing” and the Egyptian government is always “open to discussion with what would benefit the region and the case of fair peace.''
Sharaf's suggestion that the treaty could be revised prompted disbelief in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, Salehi expressed optimism about restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Cairo.
He noted that Iran is ready to send an envoy to Egyptian capital Cairo “immediately” for talks if Egypt “announces today that it is willing to establish full diplomatic ties.”
