Mnamkumbuka yule mpiganaji machachari wa uhuru wa Zimbabwe?
Edgar Tekere is dead.

Headlines, News - By admin on June 7, 2011 3:01 pm
Former Zanu PF Secretary General and Zimbabwe Unity Movement (ZUM) leader Edgar Tekere has died at the Murambi Clinic in Mutare on Tuesday. The liberation war hero was said to be battling cancer. It's reported when Tekere died his wife Ruvimbo and son, Farai Zachariah, were by his bedside.
The 74 year old affectionately known as ‘Two boy' was credited as the man who single handedly blocked Mugabe and Zanu PF from imposing a one party state and broke away to form his opposition party (ZUM).
Edgar ‘2-Boy' Tekere

Edgar Zivanai Tekere (1 April 1937 – 7 June 2011) was a Zimbabwean politician. He was a president of the Zimbabwe African National Union who organised the party during the Lancaster House talks[1] and served in government before his popularity as a potential rival to Robert Mugabe caused their estrangement.

RIP Tekere...I hope you have left big size of shamba for your kids as asante for your participation in liberation...why not!

RIP Edgar Tekere.

This man was truly a freedom fighter at heart,
Tekere supported Mugabe at the 1985 elections but by October 1988 his consistent criticism of corruption resulted in his expulsion from the party. When Mugabe voiced his belief that Zimbabwe would be better governed as a one party state, Tekere strongly disagreed, saying "A one-party state was never one of the founding principles of ZANU-PF and experience in Africa has shown that it brought the evils of nepotism, corruption and inefficiency.
Does ring a bell?
This man fought for principles, and has died with his principles.

The legend Edgar Tekere.

You stood and fought for what you believed in, without fear or favour.

May your soul rest in eternal peace.
