Recently the Traffic depertment of the Police force requested all passenger buses plying up-country routes to ensure their vehicles are fitted speed limiters as one of the strategies to cubr road accidents in accordance to the Road Traffic ACT . Transporters were given two weeks to implement the directive.

A few days before the expiry of the deadline on 5th February 2010, the Police force convened a stakeholders meeting to discuss a implementation of a law passed by the parliament. A decision was made by maojority of attendees to suspend the matter until another meeting was convened on 6th March 2010. While waiting for the meeting some 26 passengers perished through an over-speeding AM Coach inNzega Tabora region.

On 6th march 2010 unscruplous transporters were granted licence to kill passengers at their will. because the stakeholders meeting was turned into a political platform, with some important stakeholders who have been previously being held rwesponsilble with passenger killings being required to vacate the meeting venue unceremonously. Those requested to leave bu the head of the tanzania Polic Force Community Policing were passengers drivers and diesel pump technicians who were to prove to the high ranking Police officilas tit is the unscruplous transporters who are responsible for passenger killings through tampering with 3 in-built speed governors i box. The stakeholders meeting at Karimjee Hall.

The diesel pump (injector) technicians wanted to prove to the Police Force that to restore a tampered speed governor cost less than Tshs 100,000/= the sama amopunt that was used to make the vehicle move at super sonic speed.

Unfortunately after removal of the very important stakeholders and diesel pump techinicians, the meeting came up with the rcommendation to use computerised fleet management systems to curb road accidents. If traffic officials could receive bribes in front of a bus full withn 65 passengers to allow an over-speeding bus to continue with its journey. What will prevent a single traffic officila from collaborating with transportwers to allow over-speeding?

WHAT PROMPTED THE CHIEF OF COMMUNITY POLICING IN THE TANZANIA POLIC FORCE TO ORDER THESE VOLUNTEERSA TO LEAVE THE MEETING;IS THIS WHAT WE CALL POLISI JAMII?

WHO WILL BE RESPONSILBLE FOR ROAD DEATHS FROM TODAY?
