Conservative Bible Project Cuts Out Liberal Passages

    By Rachel Weiner

    "Huffington Post"

Lo and behold, the Bible has gotten too liberal, according to a group of conservatives. And it needs a little editing.

That's the inspiration behind the Conservative Bible Project, which seeks to take the text back to its supposed right-wing roots.

Yes, even scripture is not orthodox enough for the modern conservative. Not that it's the fault of the author(s), exactly. The group cites a few reasons why the Bible is too progressive: "Lack of precision in the original language ... lack of precision in modern language" and "translation bias in converting the original language to the modern one."

So how can the Bible be conservatized? The group has proposed a Wikipedia-like group editing project. Some of the ideas would only bring the translation closer to the original. But others would fundamentally change the text.

    1. Framework against Liberal Bias: providing a strong framework that enables a thought-for-thought translation without corruption by liberal bias

    2. Not Emasculated: avoiding unisex, "gender inclusive" language, and other modern emasculation of Christianity

    3. Not Dumbed Down: not dumbing down the reading level, or diluting the intellectual force and logic of Christianity; the NIV is written at only the 7th grade level

    4. Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms as they develop; defective translations use the word "comrade" three times as often as "volunteer"; similarly, updating words which have a change in meaning, such as "word", "peace", and "miracle".

    5. Combat Harmful Addiction: combating addiction by using modern terms for it, such as "gamble" rather than "cast lots"; using modern political terms, such as "register" rather than "enroll" for the census

    6. Accept the Logic of Hell: applying logic with its full force and effect, as in not denying or downplaying the very real existence of Hell or the Devil.

    7. Express Free Market Parables; explaining the numerous economic parables with their full free-market meaning

    8. Exclude Later-Inserted Liberal Passages: excluding the later-inserted liberal passages that are not authentic, such as the adulteress story

    9. Credit Open-Mindedness of Disciples: crediting open-mindedness, often found in youngsters like the eyewitnesses Mark and John, the authors of two of the Gospels

    10. Prefer Conciseness over Liberal Wordiness: preferring conciseness to the liberal style of high word-to-substance ratio; avoid compound negatives and unnecessary ambiguities; prefer concise, consistent use of the word "Lord" rather than "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" or "Lord God."

Among the words to be eliminated: "government." A conservative columnist at Beliefnet described the effort as "just crazy ... like what you'd get if you crossed the Jesus Seminar with the College Republican chapter at a rural institution of Bible learnin'."

Most Christian denominations are dooming their people to hell since they all have a big different take on the dogma.

I seem to recall having heard there are something like 33,000 or more different denominations of Christianity.

Assuming Christianity is correct, which of the 33,000 has it right?

    Haaha ahaha ahaha ahaha a a a,

Marehemu huyu alikufa June 8, 632.

Bukhari vol.6 book 60 ch.9 no.8 p.10 "’Umar said, ‘Our best Qur’an reciter is Ubai and our best judge is ‘Ali; and in spite of this, we leave some of the statements of Ubai because Ubai says, ‘I do not leave anything that I have heard from Allah’s Apostle while Allah said, ‘What ever verse (Revelations) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten but We bring a better one or similar, to it … (2: 106)"

What do you think abrogated verses means?
    a) Verses that are still in the Qur’an, but Muslims are not supposed to follow it?
    b) Verses that used to be in the [some say unalterable] Qur’an, but are no longer there anymore
    c) We can find examples of both
It turns out that Muslim hadiths show us that c) is the correct answer.
    Example of a) Sura 73:2-3 is abrogated by Sura 73:20. Abu Dawud vol.1 book 2 ch.457 no.1299 p.343
An example of an abrogated tradition is that Mu’tah (temporary marriage) for a short time such as a day or week, was allowed by Mohammed, but, according to Sunnis, later abrogated. However, Shi’ites believe that was not abrogated.
Example of b) "Narrated Anas bin Malik: ... There was revealed about those who were killed at Bi’r-Ma’una a Qur’anic Verse we used to recite, but it was cancelled later on. The verse was: ‘Inform our people that we have met our Lord. He is pleased with us and He has made us pleased.’" Bukhari vol.4 book 52 ch.19 no.69 p.53. This is not in any Qur’an today.

By the way, I hope nobody has tried to deceive you into thinking the Qur’an has not been changed, or that everything is to be followed. The Fihrist p.81-82 lists 18 books about the Abrogating and the Abrogated in the Qur’an. Among Muslims scholars, the translator in Bukhari vol.6 footnote 1 p.506 mentions a special term for Qur’anic verses that have not been abrogated: muhkam, though other sources call them mohkam.

here are ather proofs that it was changed [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUWOBBWtC8g&feature=related[/ame]

Assuming there are 5 denominations of Islam i.e Sunni, Ismailia, Shia and Al-queda, Taliban, etc. Which one is right? denominations are just that. They are denominations, period. By the way what matters is not religion or denominations to be a man of god. Afterall Abraham did not have a particular religion or did not belong to any denomination but he is the patriach of faith.

Nani kakwambia Mungu anaandika au kutunga vitabu? Vitabu vyote vinavyosomwa duniani vimetungwa na vimeandikwa na binadamu. Kinachotoka kwa Mungu ni ujumbe/message (in the case of holy scriptures).

Therefore, UJUMBE wa MUNGU haubadiliki.
