PRESIDENT HUGO CHAVEZ CHATS WITH ORDINARY PEOPLE "LIVE ON TV"
Aló Presidenteor "Hello, President"a weekly televised show that often runs five to eight hours and features Chávez speaking directly to the people, explaining government policy and mixing in a smattering of songs, poetry and whatever else strikes his fancy..... Aló Presidente programme serves as a weekly window into Venezuelan government, with Chávez often announcing major policy decisions on live television ...... and also answers questions and/or solves ordinary people's government-created problems live on the air!! "He sings; he gets involved in wordplay. ... He's probably the world's first virtual president in the age of the communication revolution." He is reported to even phone Govt. Ministers or Chief executives while he is live on air directing them to take corrective actions or implement his directives or get immediate feedback there and then!
YES, that's the type of President I admire - sio domo kaya tu au nadharia .....
In this country, we may equate Chavez with Alhaji Ali Hassan Mwinyi, the only serving Tanzanian President to meet "walala-hoi" at CCM Sub-HQ's in Lumumba Street once every month to hear and tackle their grievances on the spot without red tapes. Mkapa na Kikwete "huwa hawazungumzi na wananchi kila mwisho wa mwezi" bali wanawahutubia kupitia TV na Radio. Can Kikwete re-introduce Mwinyi's legacy and for once listen from the true sufferers of their ill-advised policies and the "rotten fruits of ufisadi in his Government??"
