CHADEMA and the Need for the Rise of A Radical Agenda Towards 2015

attachment.php

I am of a view that the only way to ultimately remove The Revolutionary Party of Tanzania from power through an election is by promulgating and promoting a radical conservative reform agenda.

More so, this radical agenda will be and must be the one that aims at a complete and comprehensive dismantling of corrupt system that has been established in the country over the past three decades

It was this agenda that called the nation to hope not just any 'hope' like "Obama's hope" but a desire for true and consequential political and leadership change. I believe towards 2015 this hope need to be articulated through a well defined agenda involving all the major sectors of Tanzanians political, economic, social and cultural life.

It is for this reason, I believe the major challenge toward 2015 especially for CHADEMA is to recognize and agree on a true radical reform agenda. Not a moderate, liberal or a 'reconciliatory' agenda but a true transformative political reformation agenda which will lead to rapid reconstruction of our nation spirit and institutions.]

What a good and practicle idea!

The local wananchi are crying for the Ujamaa declaration, although they are not happy with some of its policies (villagalisation, community farms, shops party suprimancy, Musoma resolution and many others. CDM policy is neither left nor right but they say center, they will adopt all the best from socialism and capitalism. Ist this what you are talking about?

I am sure under CDM and particularly if Dr Slaa will be in power, justice will reign over injustices we experience individually and to the nation in general. Justice to our citizen and our resources.

Yes Mzee Mwanakijiji you must be that vehcle of this change, a thing you will be proud at your old age and have contributed positively to the national history.

Why is it that we do not keep our eye on the ball?

Oh lord help us to be sane and bless us with clarity to see issues for what they are. Give us the strength to be objective, and humility to not go personal on issues

Kwa mtazamo wangu hakuna kitu more destructive kama kujaribu ku solve Tanzanian Political woes with a Western influenced logical approach. An approach that unfortunately is naturally adopted by many of us here including MM.

Mzee Mwanakijiji, at the risk of appearing self demeaning I can openly say that the more "logical", intelligent", "revolutionary" or novel a political idea might appear on paper the more UNLIKELY it is to work with a majority of our people. Even the use of that word RADICAL is good enough to send 90% of our voters scrambling to hide in caves!

Napopaona pagumu mimi ni tunahamisheje hii feeling ya uonevu tuliyonayo kwa the other majority TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY WILL BE READY TO LEAVE THEIR COMFORT ZONE AND ACT!!!
Nini kitatuamsha tuamini tunaweza! (Kidogo nitumie YES WE CAN hapa, ila nikaona itakua tatizo!)

Chadema is doing a great job in this area but as kobello implied, kuna tatizo la watanzania wa vijijini kuwakubali CDM. Unfortunately CDM inajengeka kama brand ya vijana wenye fujo hasa hasa kwa watu wa vijijini tena akina mama who have been the major voting segment of the population.
Sasa with this brand in mind how will a pro family, pro life agenda fair. And by the way what FAMILY are you implying here MM? The Nuclear family au our traditional "African" families?

Allow me to applaud your effort to bring an important topic here, although I wish to demand a slight reconstruction of the argument. The original CHADEMA constitution of 1995 will find the area marked in Blue to be plausibe in so far as you give an explanation to the term "African conservatism." We set the path to economic development after independence using an experiment in African socialism and we all know this approach to development failed.

Section 3.2.2 of the original CHADEMA constitution sets the tone for Tanzania's new economic development agenda, and there are those of us who take the term conservative to be partly based on this section. The constitution has been rewarded recently to change this section so that it reads as Section 3.1.3. You sound like one of the architects of this verbose rephrsing of the original text.

In My view, the original text has been made too wordy and appears like an attempt to tone down the original agenda, so that CHADEMA now seems to be some kind of a new TANU with the word "socialism" erased. You say This "African Conservatism" I propose would be recognized by its pro-family, pro-life, pro-business, and pro-national security. As soon as you insert the term "pro family" in the African context, you really are returning the party back to the socialist era, and I don't think that is where we want to go from here!

Tanzania of the future, and indeed the entire African continent, should envisage to develop a prosperous middle class thriving through entrepreneurship; through the practice of responsible business. And that can not be achieved by encouraging conservative African family values where your business and all your earnings will belong to the entire extended family. I encourage you to rephrase your argument to bring understandable meaning to your terms "pro-family" and "African conservatism" in order for these terms to not contradict the original CHADEMA philosophy in which the entrepreneur seats at the engine room of the nation's economic development.

We should take the best of Tanu and discard junk from it. We all know the components of national security from Tanu were brilliant! let's take that from our forefathers. The area marked blue at the bottom is noble indeed, but only where business is NOT compromised! You frighten me with the term radical. Radical? Do you know what radical means my brother? We are doing very fine without radicalism.

I am of a view that the only way to ultimately remove The Revolutionary Party of Tanzania from power through an election is by promulgating and promoting a radical conservative reform agenda. By 'conservative reform agenda' I mean policies that are based on certain founding principles of our nation (thus we conserve them) but even more a more modern African Conservatism. This "African Conservatism" I propose would be recognized by its pro-family, pro-life, pro-business, and pro-national security.

More so, this radical agenda will be and must be the one that aims at a complete and comprehensive dismantling of corrupt system that has been established in the country over the past three decades (of course others might argue even a little longer than that). It is this system which I for one believe has created and sustained the level of poverty in the country while at the same time - as Nyerere articulated in 1995- has created a small number of super-millionaires who live in their own paradise in the midst of extreme poverty!

For some of us who were called to assist in the formulation of CHADEMA's election manifesto for the last General Elections of 2010 we understood rather clearly that the only way to create a popular interest for ordinary voters is through a bold and audacious agenda for change.

Unfortunately, for now this agenda is not clear and not well articulated. As I listen to many opposition politicians the language is not encouraging, their plans disheartening and their message somewhat self-serving and ambiguous. I followed carefully the just ended budget session in Dodoma and one thing was very clear - there opposition politicians who look at CCM as somehow the instrument for change. These politicians still beg and advise the ruling government to come up with 'policies' that would improve the lives of ordinary Tanzanians. It is a shame - indeed it is! - that instead of condemning the failed policies of the ruling party these politicians try so hard to advise the government to come up with something 'better'!

It is for this reason, I believe the major challenge toward 2015 especially for CHADEMA is to recognize and agree on a true radical reform agenda. Not a moderate, liberal or a 'reconciliatory' agenda but a true transformative political reformation agenda which will lead to rapid reconstruction of our nation spirit and institutions. The fundamental question that needs to be answer is this: what are the main elements of this radical agenda and how can CHADEMA or any other party for that matter create such an agenda before the General Elections of 2015? What would be the major components or elements of such an agenda?

Can a party with such a radical economic, political and social agenda win an election without being seen or considered to be an ultra-conservative party?

Shida kubwa tuliyonayo,ni ku underestimate what ccm is capable of doing just to stay in power.ccm haisikilizi wananchi na haina mpango wa kufanya hivyo.Sina imani na chochote tunachoambiwa ni kizuri kwa Taifa kama ccm inashiriki.Sina imani kabisa.Chochote kitakachoonekana kumpa mwananchi ufahamu na uelewa, ccm hawakipendi.

I wish every body could understand this! Hakuna chema kitakachotokana na CCM kwasababu wameshatengeneza mfumo FISADI...
