Ghana and Marseille winger Andre 'Dede' Ayew says that it is "amazing" to be voted BBC African Footballer of 2011.
The 21-year-old took over a third of the votes to follow in the footsteps of his father, Abedi 'Pele' Ayew, who won the inaugural BBC award in 1991.
Ayew, one of the standout performers at the 2010 World Cup, beat Yaya Toure, Gervinho, Samuel Eto'o and Seydou Keita to the crown.
