Controversial Libyan leader Muammar Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi is a man with precise, if peculiar, tastes. Case in point: His notorious “Amazonian Guard,” an elite force of female bodyguards.

Choosing the members of the Amazonian guard is a little more involved than simply placing a mildly coherent Craigslist ad. For one, every member must, allegedly, be a virgin hand-picked by Gaddafi, and must then undergo extensive martial arts and firearms training at a special academy before becoming official members of the force.

The bodyguards dress in military-inspired guard, wearing either khaki jumpsuits or fatigues with red berets… as well as make-up, polished nails and jewelry, even when on the job.

Rumors persist that Gaddafi demands “sexual favors” of his guards, but other rumors contend that they must remain chaste throughout their years of service.

According to Gaddafi, the job works to “empower” women, rather than merely exist as the whim of a megalomaniacal despot. “Women should be trained for combat,” he believes, “so that they do not become easy prey for their enemies.”

Galyna Kolotnytska (Ukrainian: Галина Колотницька; born in Brovary in 1972) is a Ukrainian nurse. She was described by Gene Cretz, the US ambassador to Libya, as the "voluptuous blonde" without whom Muammar al-Qadhafi, leader of Libya, never travels. This characterization surfaced after the secret diplomatic cable sent by Cretz was revealed by WikiLeaks as a part of its United States diplomatic cables leak. The cable was sent from the United States embassy in Tripoli on September 29, 2009. It was also revealed that the Libyan government sent a private jet to ferry her from Libya to Portugal to meet up with the Leader during his rest-stop. Galyna alone is said to have "known his [Qadhafi's] routine."Kolotnytska moved to Libya in 2001, with the help of a medical agency acquired abroad, where she first worked at a hospital and then went on to serve Gaddafi.Kolotnytska's daughter Tetyana has categorically denied the information that her mother is the mistress of Gaddafi. Kolotnytska's husband died in 1992.

Clan's abuse of power helped fuel unrest

(Newser) – Libyans had plenty of reasons to despise Moammar Gadhafi and his clan long before the leader ordered the use of heavy artillery on protesters.

State Department cables released by WikiLeaks detail some of the Gadhafis' abuses of power, which are known to Libyans despite the regime's control of the media, and are helping fuel unrest, the New York Times reports.

The cables describe (1) power struggles between the leader's eight children, at least two of whom have been involved in crushing protests.

The clan and its scandals "provided local observers with enough dirt for a Libyan soap opera," US diplomats observed. (2) All the Gadhafi children appear to have received vast amounts of money from state oil firms, diplomats noted.

According to one cable, (3) Gadhafi's son Muatassim demanded $1.2 billion from the national oil corporation to establish his own militia, to keep up with his brother Khamis, head of a special forces group that "effectively serves as a regime protection unit."

(4) Gadhafi himself was described as a hypochondriac who feared flying over water.

One 2008 cable to Condoleezza Rice described him as (5) "self-styled intellectual and philosopher" who "has been eagerly anticipating for several years the opportunity to share with you his views on global affairs."

Mashirika ya mafuta ya taifa lao, sawa yake TPDC yetu hii hapa ni wa kupigwa mkono kila wakati kama trafiki polisi na daladala pindi wanakaukiwa kifedha - hawachukui hela ya kitoto huko. Mnakumbuka kuna mtoto wa kiongozi wetu fulani naye alipoteza vijisenti milioni 10 asigundue mapema eeehhh???

Kwa ufupi, Gaddafi kifo chake kinaweza kikatokea nyumbani kwake zaidi kuliko hata kutoka kwa mikono ya wapinzani wake wengine.

Licha ya ujasiri wa Gaddafi alivyokua akidhaniwa na wengi miaka yote huko nyuma kabla ya msingi huo kusalitiwa na ujumbe wa lugha ya mwili wake wakati akito hotuba zote za sekunde 20 na baadaye ile ya dakika 17, Gaddafi ni mwanajeshi muoga kuliko wote ambaye kwa kuendekeza anasa na kuacha mazoezi ya kijeshi, japo kumebaki tuakili ya kijeshi lakini MWILI UNAKATAA sawa na jinsi mshsmbulizi machachari wa Brazil Ronaldo Dalima alivyojikuta kabla ya kuamua kutundika daluga kabisa kucheza soka.

Huyu baba anaogo ajabu kuona kitu maji na hasa kuruka na ndege juu yake - hivyo kwa Nguvu ya Umma Gaddafi ni laini kuliko embe dodo iliyoiva ukizingatia uwepo wake katikati ya familia iliyogawanyika ambayo mdoli wao wa kuchezea siku zote ni 'paja la kuku'!!!

Isitoshe, tabia ya kiongozi huyu ambayo ni mtaalam wa kila kitu; hashauriki, msomi mwenyewe, mwanafalsa ya mambo ya mapinduzi yote yeye, mfalme wa wafalme bado yeye yeye, Nguvu ya Umma itamdaka mchona kweupe kama panzi na kummaliza kwa kumvuta tu viungo vya mwili kila upande na kugawanyika kama kuku iandaliwayo kwa mgeni rasmi kijijini.
