Kenya collected five more gold medals on the final day to top the standings and reclaim the African athletics championships title here on Sunday.

The hosts rounded up their most successful championships when they took the men’s 4x400m relay to add to the women’s 20km walk race and steeplechase, the men’s 1,500m and a clean sweep in the men’s 5,000 metres, the second time the hosts swept the podium following their success in the men’s 800 metres.

Kenya claimed 10 gold medals, seven silver and eight bronze for a total of 25, seven medals ahead of Nigeria with 18 — eight gold, five silver and five bronze — and former champions South Africa who collected 19, six of them gold.

Mkuu, these people have dominated that thing for decades, kwa maneno mengine it's their thing. We were once good at it as well, remember Filbert Bayi, Shahanga, Nyambui etc ni suala la mipango na kuitekeleza. Ila kuna mambo mengi ya kwao siyakubali!

Boss, these dudes don't see anything positive about Kenya so just give up on PR. Nonetheless, hats off to the runners, really made me feel proud coming up just after the junior team had conquered the world in Canada.
