The 2012 tourist season is underway in Tanzania if based on the number of tourists in Arusha City. Tourist seasons have implications for the tourists' countries' of residence as well as for Tanzania. United Kingdom, USA, Italy, South Africa and Germany account for over three quarters of the 900,000 tourist arrivals in Tanzania.

It implies that economies of United Kingdom, USA, Italy, South Africa and Germany are good enough thereby encouraging residents of those countries to afford traveling abroad. It also implies that the work environment provides residents of those countries with leisure time. It is one thing to acquire revenues. It is another thing to find time to spend the money.

Tourists may visit Tanzania throughout the year but July and august are the typical tourist seasons for the country. The weather is cool during those months.

Tourists travel to peaceful countries where safety and security is assured. It implies that Tanzania is a peaceful country.

Destination countries provide a variety of attractions to tourists implying that tourists are a variety of individuals with diverse interests. It also implies that service providers have to consider tourists interests to satisfy their needs.

Some tourists seek for adventure, sightseeing, beach holiday, cruise or sports. There are those who enjoy living on the coast, lake shores, and cities or in rural areas.

Tourists can be classified further: There are tourists who prefer to do day trips, travel during weekend breaks or during annual holidays.

In addition, individuals may be driven to travel in order to experience change and to see something new. In tourism, change and new may mean to experience different cultures, history, heritage and nature. New in tourism may also mean new farming systems, personal development, and recreation like diving, business and opportunities for healthy living.

It implies that tourists as individuals can be categorized as backpackers, couples with no children, single with no children and parents living without their children.

Backpackers range between 18-24 years of age and have no children. They are attracted to adventurous activity. They consider themselves to be travelers rather than tourists. Individuals in this category of tourists are generally well-educated. They are cost conscious.

On the other hand, youths are tourists who range between 18 and 25 years of age. They are not well educated and have low disposable income. It implies that there are many factors to consider in order prepare well for a tourist season.
