Nami nichomeke kwenye hub niingie ktk mjadala wa computer networking. Mkuu Bontowar hizo configuration za router nazisubiri kwa hamu, na nimeshainstall router simulator kwa ajili ya mazoezi.

Moja ya vitu vitakavyo zungumzwa sana tutakapoanza kutumia mikonga ya fiber ni firewall protection, ambapo utahitaji some sort of a software firewall solution kwenye PC yako. Hata hivyo, schools, Internet cafe and some organizations might need a better solution to suit their needs. Linux firewalls will come-in handy here.
Think of this as a business opportunity for you (QUESTION: Where to look for opportunities? ANSWER: Find problems in the society and solve them).

You can build a linux firewall from scratch by doing it yourself. Alternatively, you can use some linux distribution that are readily available which are designed to be used as firewalls.
I have used SmoothWall for quite some time now; it is very good. There are other flavors too that you may want to try out, for eg. ClarkConnect.

Later on, I will try to summarize this (click) review, so you can get a picture of how easy and what is needed for you to get started.

• Ease of installation
• Friendly WebGUI interface (You can play with configuration here, remotely, ie. from your PC browser)
• Good support is available because so many people use it.
• You can add new features easily along with a forum that has walkthroughs for installing MODS (add-ons)
• You can use even cheap PC (500-900MHz range w/ 128-512MB of RAM)
