Project accountant

Description: Validate payment vouchers, cheques, local purchase orders for all transactions relating to projects, and post journals held in the system by the Project Accounts Assistant.
2. Reconcile ledger accounts of the projects and follow up of imprest given to staff travelling on official duty.
3. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations of all Project accounts.
4. Prepare monthly financial reports for submission to management.
5. Monitor and ensure that enough funds are available in the project accounts, and lodge the disbursement request once the minimum threshold is reached.
6. Prepare financial reports for accountability of the funds disbursed and analysis of accounts so that decision makers receive timely and accurate information.
7. Assist the project officers to prepare budgets for the activities requested.
8. Monitor the expenditure of the projects with a view to ensuring that the amounts budgeted for under each expenditure head is not exceeded.
9. Ensure that Financial Rules and Regulations governing the use of funds are strictly adhered to.
10. Prepare financial statements of the Project databases at the end of the financial year, and provide necessary responses to any audit observations or queries from the relevant donors.
11. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance Option) or Equivalent
ii. Professional qualifications in CPA (K), CPA (T), ACCA, ICPAU
iii. Relevant working experience of not less than 5 years.
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should demonstrate good leadership, planning, interpersonal, communication, and report writing skills. S/He must be a team player and must prove proficiency in application of spreadsheet and database accounting, including the use of Sun Accounting software.

Description: To Initiate and coordinate implementation of Regional telecommunications, postal, broadcasting, and information technology programmes and strategies as stipulated in the EAC Development Strategy.
2. Coordinate harmonisation of communications infrastructure policies and strategies in the region
3. Develop projects and programmes aimed at improving communication links in the region
4. Initiate policies that encourage private sector participation in the development of the sub-sector
5. Develop and implement programmes aimed at improving ICT training in the region
6. Advise Partner States on development reforms relating to the implementation and monitoring of the communications sub-sector
7. Initiate measures aimed at achieving integrated ICT networks in the region
8. Facilitate exchange of information between Partner States
9. Coordinate initiatives aimed at developing projects for use of information and communications technologies
10. Implement Council decisions relevant to the sub-sector
11. Liaise with regional and international organisations/institutions relevant to the sub-sector on the implementation of ICT projects, including RICTSP, EASSY among others.

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Telecommunication, ICT, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Equivalent
