CCM asked to accept criticism, accept change

The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi has been advised to face internal and external challenges if the party wants to maintain its political supremacy in the country.

Speaking during the launch of a book CCM and the Destiny of our Nation, former president Ali Hassan Mwinyi also urged CCM members to read the book in order to know what other people say about their party.

Commenting on the book authored by veteran journalist Makwaia wa Kuhenga, Mr Mwinyi said that the book has come out at the right time for CCM members and non-members to read it.

He admitted that there was a need for the ruling party to accept challenges while standing firm on its basic principles.

Speaking during the same occasion, Mr Kuhenga urged the ruling party to respect opinion of the majority and shun away from the so called network of a few influential members in the party.

He said the network believed to be formed by close allies and friends of CCM national Chairman President Jakaya Kikwete, threatens the popularity and solidarity of the party as it proved to be powerful and dominating all important decisions.

He said the book seeks to caution CCM to abide to its original objectives to maintain its respect as a ruling party.

During the ceremony in the city ysterday, Mr Kuhenga presented Mr Mwinyi with a copy of the book. According to the author, the latter was the national chairman of CCM during his tenure at the State House where he accepted challenges from his supporters and those who opposed him.

I present you with this book because I believe you were wise enough to listen to various opinion. Your leadership has to be emulated by every politician in the country as it reflected the heart beat of democracy everywhere in the world,� said Mr Kuhenga.

He said he has decided to distribute the book in advance to allow stakeholders brainstorm its message. In the book, the author has touched on various areas which the ruling party needs to make adjustment to retain its position as a ruling party.

The writer points out that in its present form, CCM has almost lost its credibility and has become a party of wealthy people, insisting that it has lost direction by closing its eyes on existing economic blunders made by its Government.

The book also touches on the party's privatisation policy which needs to be reviewed and speaks of the need for the country to have a fresh Constitution.

I have a lot of respect kwa maneno mengi ya huyu jamaa, lakini one thing sina uhakika nacho kama ni kweli jamaa ni for real au a fake politician, kwa sababu yeye na Ulimwengu, walikuwa washikaji wa karibu sana na the author wa hii privatisation policy, mpaka pale alipowatosa nje ya watu wake wa karibu ndio tukaanza kusikia makelele haya, otherwise ninaheshimu sana maneno yake!
