Swali: UGONJWA WA KISUKARI UNASABABISHWA NA NINI?
Ugonjwa wa kisukari unasababishwa na UKOSEFU au UPUNGUFU wa chembechembe (HORMONE ) kwa jina la insulin.

Swali: JEE UGONJWA HUU UNASABABISHWA NA KULA SUKARI NYINGI?
La hasha. Kula sukari nyingi sio sababu ya ugonjwa kisukari. Lakini lazima tuseme kwamba kula sukari nyingi si nzuri kwa afya yako kwani utaongeza uzito na kuweza kuathiri uwezo wa mwili wako kujikinga na maradhi tofauti. Hivyo sukari tutumie lakini kwa uangalifu.

Swali: KUNA AINA NGAPI ZA UGONJWA HUU?
Kuna aina mbili. Aina ya kwanza (Type 1) ni ile ambayo mwili unakuwa hauna kabisa hizo chembe chembe za INSULIN. Hujitokeza mapema kabisa tangu katika umri mdogo wa utoto. Matibabu yake ni sindano za insulin kabla ya kula chakula na wakati tofauti katika siku nzima. Aina ya pili ni ile ambayo kuna upungufu wa insulin. Hivyo mwili una insulin ambayo haitoshi kwa mahitaji ya kila siku. Matibabu yake yanakwenda kwa awamu tofauti. Awamu ya kwanza ni kuepuka vyakula vya uwanga na sukari na kula vyakula kama mikate ya ngano nzima ili ile insulin kidogo iliyopo iweze kutosha. Iwapo hii haitosaidia kuna aina fulani za vidonge ambazo hupewa mgonjwa. Vidonge hivi husaidia kuongeza insulin kidogo iliyomo mwilini. Ikiwa hii pia haikusaidia hapo tena hubidi mgonjwa kusaidiwa kwa shindano za insulin. Aina ya 2 mara nyingi hujitokeza katika umri wa kati au umri mkubwa na sio katika umri wa watoto wadogo.

NINI KINACHOFANYA MTU KUWEZA KUPATA UGONJWA HUU:
Mara nyingi ni urithi katika ukoo, yaani asili ambayo wazee waliopita au kutangulia walikuwa nao ugonjwa huu. Lakini pia hitilafu fulani za mwili zinaweza kufanya ile insulin iliyomo mwilini kutokufanya kazi.

JEE MTU ATAJUWAJE KAMA ANA UGONJWA WA KISUKARI?
Dalili zifuatazo zinaweza kujitokeza: kwenda haja ndogo mara kwa mara, na kunywa maji kwa wingi ( kiu haishi). Pia wengine hupoteza uzito, kukaukwa na ngozi na pia kupata aina ya ngazi katika miguu. Wengine wanaweza kuwa na kidonda ambacho kinachelewa kupona katika sehemu yo yote ya mwili. Pia kupoteza hisia katika miguu au viganja inaweza kujitokeza.

NINI ATHARI ZA UGONJWA HUU?
Baada ya muda mrefu ugonjwa wa sukari huleta athari ya mishipa ya fahamu na kusababisha kupoteza hisia za ngozi na viganja au nyayo na kupungua nuru ya macho. Pia athari ya mafigo huweza kujitokeza na uzungukaji wa damu unaweza kupungua katika baadhi ya sehemu na kusababisha kufa kwa sehemu za mwili. Kujitokeza kwa dalili hizi kunategemea ni kiasi gani matibabu yamefanikiwa na wakati wa kuanza kwa matibabu hayo baada ya kujuilikana kwamba mtu ana ugonjwa huu.

VIPI UNAWEZA KUJIKINGA NA UGONJWA HUU?
Ikiwa unayo historia katika familia sio lazima kwamba utapata ugonjwa huu. Lakini kwa wale ambao wanaweza kuupata wanaweza kuuchelewesha kwa kujitahidi kuishi maisha ya afya nzuri kwa kula chakula bora, mazoezi, kula mboga mboga kwa wingi na kujiepusha na uzito wa mwili. Pia kupima damu baada ya kila muda ikiwa una historia katika ukoo au una wasi wasi kutokana na dalili zilizotajwa hapo juu.

JEE KUNA MATIBAU YA MARA MOJA KUONDOA UGONJWA HUU?
Kwa dawa za hospitali mpaka sasa hakuna dawa ya kuondoa moja kwa moja ingawa hasa kwa aina ya 2 watu baada ya kurekebisha vyakula wanaweza kujiweka katika hali hali ambayo mwili unaweza kutumia insulin yake kidogo bila ya kula vidonge au sindano. Kuna utafiti wa kufanya transplant ili kuongeza insulin mwilini kwa kutumia sehemu (pancreas) ya mtu mwengine lakini bado haujafanikiwa kuweza kutumika kama ni matibabu.

JEE KUNA JUMUIA YA WATU WA UGONJWA KISUKARI
Naam UK Diabetes Associaltion. Wao hutowa mawaidha kwa wale wanaotaka.

Nadhani mazoezi na dieting ni njia natural kwa kupamabana na ugonjwa huu. Nawashauri wenye kazi za kukaa na usafiri wa gari watumie ngazi badala ya lift.

Inafaa tukumbuke tena kwamba ugonjwa wa kisukari ni ugonjwa wa shahamu (cholesterol) vile vile.

Mtu anaweza kuendelea kula chakula chake cha kawaida ili mradi anakumbuka kwamba ni suala muhimu sana kupunguza utumiaji wa mafuta, siagi, samli na margarin.

Mtindo wa kumimina mafuta moja kwa moja katika sufuria au kikaangio si mtindo wa busara hata kidogo. Ni jambo la maana na busara kutumia kijiko cha kulia katika kupima kiasi gani cha mafuta mtu anatia katika mapishi:

Hakikisha kwamba unatia kijiko kimoja cha kulia kwa kila mtu mmoja katika ukoo.

Chakula cha kuchemsha ni cha siha zaidi kuliko cha mikaango kwa sababu ya upungufu wa mafuta.

Afadhali kula chapati/mkate wa kusukuma wa ngano nzima upikwao mkavu bilaya mafuta kushinda ule unaokaangwa kwa mafuta.

Epuka pilau na wali wa nazi na afadhali ule wali wa maji.

Hakikisha kwamba unaitoa, kuikeketa na kutupa shahamu yote ya nyama kabla hujaitia chunguni.

Idadi ya milo ya kila siku
Si busara kula rundi la maakulati bora kupendelea kula milo midogo midogo
ya mara kwa mara. Njia hii inasaidia kupunguza uzito wa mtu vile vile na
kuifanya insulin kufanya kazi kwa kasi au bora zaidi.

Tahadhari na kukwepa chai au mlo wa asubuhi kwa vile unahitaji kuanza siku ukiwa na chochote tumboni. Baada ya mlo wa asubuhi unaweza kuendelea kula mara mbili zaidi kwa kutwa ikiwa umezoea kula hivyo. Lakini hakikisha kwamba unakula kiwango kidogo kidogo, tofauti na ulivyozoea.

Kula ndimba kubwa kubwa asoruka paka hazina tija kwa siha yako.

Inawezekana kuwa huna njaa baina ya nyakati za kula, lakini inafaa
utambuwe kwamba ni vyema ukila vitu vidogo vidogo vikavu kama ya ngano nzima na ule pamoja na tunda moja. Ulaji huu wa udoho udoho utakufanya usiwe na njaa kali wakati wa milo mikuu na kwa hivyo utakula kidogo zaidi.

Matunda
Matunda ni chakula bora, lakini mengi yao yana sukari nyingi, kwa hivyo ni
vizuri kula si zaidi ya mawili-matatu kwa siku ukihakikisha kupunguza
ulaji wa zabibu, embe, ndizi mbivu, matunda makavu kama tende, zabibu kavu,zeituni kwa vile matunda haya yana sukari nyingi.

Maziwa na mitindi
Maziwa yana sukari-ya-maziwa (lactose) , kwa hivyo mtu anahitajiwa asinywe zaidi ya nusu liter kwa siku, hii ina maana maziwa ya aina mbali mbali kama mtindi na yoghurt bila ya matunda.

Vidonge vya utamu haviathiri kiwango cha sukari katika damu kwa hivyo mtu anaweza kutumia vidonge hivi kwa kutayarishiya maakulati badala ya kutumia sukari ya kawaida. Vidonge hivi viko vya aina tafauti kwa mfano saccharin (sakkarin), cyclamate, acesulframe, aspartame (Nutra-sweet) n.k.

Cyclamate na acelsulframe zinaweza kuchemshiwa bila ya kuharibu ladha.
Nutra-sweet inapoteza ladha yake tamu ikiwa itachemshwa au kubekiwa kwa zaidi ya dakika chache. Sakkarin inageuka kuwa chungu ikiwa itachemshwa zaidi ya digrii 70 kwa muda mrefu.

Epuka na vitu vilvyo tiwa ladha ya utamu kwa matumizi ya sorbitol na au
fructose kwa vile vina ongeza sukari katika damu.

Inafaa mtu anywe vinyaji vilivyo punguzwa utamu au kutiwa utamu wa vidonge yaani vinyaji bila ya sukari. Hakikisha kusoma kama sharubati fulani ina sukari au haina sukari.

Epuka na vyakula vya utamu-utamu kama vile haluwa, jelebi, laddu-laddu,
peremende-pipi, asali, matunda ya kuchemsha, jamu, makeki-keki, kashata
n.k. na ujizoweshe kula vyakula visivyo vitamu tamu.

Mboga-mboga ni vyakula bora na haziongezi sukari katika damu :
mabilingani, mabamia, vitunguu, squshi, kebeji, kerot, tungule/nyanya, tango, koliflower, fiwi, kisamvu, mchicha n.k.

Njegere, kunde, mbaazi, maharage, njugu mawe, muhogo, ndizi mbichi,
majimbi, viazi vikuu ni vyakula vyenye mizizi mizizi ambavyo vinateremsha
sukari katika damu. Tahadhari na ndizu mbivu, za mkono wa tembo, boga na viazi vitamu.

Ukila jibini hakikisha kwamba haijajaa shahamu yaani iwe ya kiasi cha 18%
ambayo itakuwa na shahamu ya kiasi cha gramu 18 kwa kila gramu 100 za
jibini. Kwenye pakiti unaweza kusoma kiasi cha asili mia ya shahamu kwenye jibini.

Samaki ni wenye manufaa makuu kisiha na aina zote zinaruhusiwa
Usile mayai zaidi ya 2-3 kwa wiki.

Wasia wa Chakula bora

Punguza utumiaji wa mafuta, siagi, samli na margarini
Kula mboga mboga kwa wingi, ama za kuchemsha au mbichi
Kula vyakula vya mizizi mizizi
Kula vyakula vyenye ngano nzima na chapati za ngano nzima
Pale inapomkinika soma kwenye paketi/chupa kuhusu kuwemo au kutokuwemo sukari ndani

Maakulati/machopo chopo
Ikiwa mtu atafuata mapendekezo ya hapo juu, anaweza mara 1-2 kwa mwezi kula maakulati kama vile kwenye shughuli, maaliko, sherehe yenye vyakula vyenye mafuta/siagi na sukari kwa wingi.

Matatizo
Baadhi ya nyakati mtu anaweza kufikwa na maafa kama misiba, matatizo ya kifamilia n.k. Na kwa hivyo mtu hupendelea kujiliwaza kwa kula zaidi au
kupoteza hamu ya kula kabisa. Hali hizi zina athiri ugonjwa wa kisukari na
kwa hivyo mtu inambidi aendelee na kula kama ilivyopendekezwa ingawa mara nyengine inaweza kuwa ni vigumu.

Magonjwa mengine

Hutokea kwamba mtu anapata magonjwa mengine juu ya ugonjwa wake wa kisukari, anatakiwa aendelee na matibabu yake ya kisukari kama kawaida.
Na anategemewa apime sukari katika damu mara kwa mara zaidi kuliko kawaida kwa vile magonjwa mengine yanaweza kuifanya sukari ikapanda zaidi ingawa matibabu yanaendelea kwa kawaida. Kwa hivyo kumbuka kuwasiliana na tabibu wako pindi sukari ikipanda.

Nilipogundulika nina diabetes nilichanganyikiwa na masharti mengi niliyoelezwa na madaktari na watu wengine kuhusu kula mpaka nilipoelekezwa na doctor mmoja kuwa naweza kula vyakula vya kawaida lakini badala ya kula milo 3 mikubwa nile milo 5 midogo kwa siku,mafuta yanayokatazwa ni yanayotokana na wanyama,kijiko 1-2 cha mafuta yoyote ya mimea ni nzuri.Badala ya kula matunda mengi mara 1 na kupandisha glucose kula kwa mfano ndizi asubuhi,kipande cha papai mchana na embe jioni.Vegetables unaweza kula kiasi utakacho.Kuna kitu ambacho kila mwenye diabetes inabidi ajue,kijiko kidogo cha dalasini-abdalasini(cinammon) katika chai au kahawa asubuhi kinapunguza asilimia 20% ya glucose mwilini na kwa mtu ambaye sukari yake haiko juu sana inatosha kuidhibiti.
