Topic: What will life be like 200 years from now??

if you think how life was 200 years ago in 1812 we've come SUCH a long way!!!

Some things to think about:
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Electricity, only 150 years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Bog roll, only 100 years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Planes, Only 75 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Televisions, only 60 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Microwave Ovens, only 35 years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - The Internet, Only 20 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Mobile Phones, Only 15 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - Facebook, Only 8 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years - ipads, Only 4 Years
Man has been on the planet 200,000 years, and we have all these commodities at our fingertips, and we take them ALL for granted..... I'd say we are pretty lucky to be alive in the time we are now -- wouldn't you??

dah.....can't even imagine...innovation will tell it all!!!

People were predicting that we would be able to talk via a monitor only in 200 years from 1970, but here we are, merely 40 years later with Skype, google talk and so many other things we can install onour mobile phones and have video call, as if it was the most natural thing. Humans first attacked transportation (Moteur à explosion, I can't say it in english, Makedha help...) and within 100 years we went from horses and caravans to jets, rockets and satellites. Now we have moved to information sharing (Microchip). I think the next technological revolution will be in physics, but I can't predict what it will be used for.
However, within the next 50 years or less, I predict the death of the following objects/machines/institutions:
- Desk tops
- Laptops
- camera (picture and recorder) they will only be for graphic professionals
- Watches for other purpose than luxury item/jewelry
- pen and pencil
- The post office
- The bank till
- bank notes and coins
- fax machines and pagers
- typing machines (if they are still out there)

To be able to understand the future, you must know the past, what has taken us to where we are today and wht has changed alon' the way.
World changed a lot in the last 150 years.
Bt we human are driven by the same basics needs as we were 150 yrs ago, FOODS, SLEEP, SEX the feelin' of bein' appreciated and loved.
Part of the world are usin' for entertainment the inventions tht hv affected most people around the world for daily livin' are the Telephone, Electricity, Radio, Runinga, Rununu, Mitandao N.k

Very interesting post Boflo! But to look ahead 200 years from now it is mind boggling, too far.
You are quite right that the many devices and gadgets and technologies we use today; cellphones, internet etc have become such an integral part of our lives that we do take them for granted.

But as for me, I stop and think. How did I manage life in the 80's and early 90's. I say so 'cause I bought my first analogue mobile phone from mobitel in 1994. I kept changing the phone as new models and technology came. Now I have immersed myself in the world of technologies and gadgets to such an extent that I think I can not manage without a phone or a laptop.And what is more, these things are changing. I hear there is a perfume company in America that is tinkering with electronics to enable the smell of perfume to be sent over the internet! The implication of this invention? Men and women all over the world wouldn't need to cover distances to buy designer perfumes and cosmetcs even! You simply sniff it in a special device attached to your PC and if you like it, you place an order! In other words Boflo, in future, some 50 years from today travelling for shopping would be reduced to zero.
And I am sorry to say that 100 years from today, Africa's natural resources would be tapped remotely by mega powers (America, Europe, Japan and China) They would send specially designed planes (improved drones} which would shoot arrow-like sunction devices deep into the ground and the extraction of the minerals would begin.

In the medical field, I can see needleless injection. The laser invention has a great potential to replace needles in intra- muscular injection

Then there is this nagging problem of power generation. In future, 100 years on, the human body would be turned into a power generator! As you walk, the movements of your legs would be used as a source of electric power. Inventions in chips and advances in nanotechnology would give rise to the creation of this power.

Ever read H.G.Well's 'Invisible Man?' It's gonna be a reality 200 years in future.

Back to our beloved mobile phones. Our mobile phones 200 years to come would be our closest dear friend. With your phone, not only would you be able to talk to your friends and relatives but also see them as you exchange greetings and news. There will no more be conversations like ' I am now in Arusha' when the speaker of this is actually in Tanga.This technology wil have far-reaching implications in our social life.
Lots of unthinkable devices would be there 200 years from today and people would wonder: Just how did our ancestors manage their life in the year 2012?
