People were predicting that we would be able to talk via a monitor only in 200 years from 1970, but here we are, merely 40 years later with Skype, google talk and so many other things we can install onour mobile phones and have video call, as if it was the most natural thing. Humans first attacked transportation (Moteur à explosion, I can't say it in english,
Makedha help...) and within 100 years we went from horses and caravans to jets, rockets and satellites. Now we have moved to information sharing (Microchip). I think the next technological revolution will be in physics, but I can't predict what it will be used for.
However, within the next 50 years or less, I predict the death of the following objects/machines/institutions:
- Desk tops
- Laptops
- camera (picture and recorder) they will only be for graphic professionals
- Watches for other purpose than luxury item/jewelry
- pen and pencil
- The post office
- The bank till
- bank notes and coins
- fax machines and pagers
- typing machines (if they are still out there)
