Ecudorian embassy in London has granted asylum to Julian Assange this afternoon and the man himself is believed to have moved into the embassy building.

British foreign office has issued a statement saying that-"the desicion to grant asylum to Assange is regretable and will carry out obligation to extradite Mr Assange to Sweden".

Sweden has not issued any warrant to enforce the arrest nor detention of Mr Assange.The high-profile Australian former hacker has been holed up inside the red-brick embassy in central London for eight weeks since he lost a legal battle to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning over rape allegations.

Outside the embassy near London's famed Harrods department store, supporters made the announcement over a loudspeaker to cheers and clapping from protesters who had gathered outside the building in support of Assange.

Before the decision was announced, Britain said it could use a little-known piece of legislation to strip Ecuador's embassy of its diplomatic status so that Assange could be detained.

Britain has been trying to revoke the Ecuadorean embassy's diplomatic status for sometime claiming that they
have a legal duty to extradite Mr Assange.

Is this the right move for Equador?

What are they looking for?

If he steps outside he will be arrested and this come as Britain will claim sovereign territory. The question now remains as to how diplomats or their staff will smuggle Assange - who has been living in the embassy for the past 56 days - out of the UK.

Equador has justified their decision to grant asylum to Mr assange saying if Assange was later extradited to the United States he could have his human rights breached and possibly face the death penalty.

And the country has warned that any attempt made by Britain to arrest Assange from its embassy would result in links between the pair falling into the 'dark ages'.

Politics, politics. Asange's "freedom of speech" has fallen into whirlpool of politics. There are many embassies in UK but he knew exactly where to run to...
Anyways, seems like the secret US military info he published is quite true and interesting, and US hate the fact that it ended up in Asange's hands. Asange has been publishing "secrets" for long time but all the drama went into escalation after he posted this US stuff. I wish I could get my eyes on it.

There are so many things to learn from this. One thing is regarding asylum claims in foreign country. Is it revoked or challenged before courts, when one person is granted it?

He cannot leave the embassy to go to the airport because he will be arrested immediately when he steps outside the embassy.

Ecuadorian embassy's building has other foreign embassies offices such as Saudi Arabia and they will see this as an intrusion to their daily activities as well.

Also Swedish investigators have been forced into a corner that they will have to go to UK to interview Mr Assange on rape allegations by Swedish woman, which is dismissed by Mr Assange who says it was consensual and the claims are politically motivated.

We still don't know the outcome of this diplomatic row which is unnecessary and Mr Assange can stay put for now.
