Kila siku migomo tu unatemea watatengeneza nini?

Elimu inayotolewa Tanzania kwa siku nyingi sana, imekosa kuwapa wanafunzi mbinu za ubunifu (creativity). Elimu imekuwa ikitolewa kwa lengo la kufaulu mitihani tu, na wala sio kuendeleza fani mbalimbali muhimu. Hii itatugharimu sana katika mendeleo yetu kwa vizazi vingi vijavyo. Kuna haja kubwa ya kukarabati, au kugeuza kabisa mfumo wetu wa elimu ili elimu itakayotolewa iwe ya manufaa kwetu, katika kutatua matatizo yetu na kuiendeleza jamii.

We don't have fund?? these students have used locally available materials! where did USA, ENGLAND, GERMANY etc got funding before being giants as they are now??

Mkuu mambo mengi, nimekupata!

What's so special with this "innovation"? Are they not re-inventing the wheel? Is this a step forward or hundreds of steps backward? I think they just copied technology [fuel efficiency] from TATA and use whatever scrap they could find to "build" their "concept car". This is not to say that I don't recognize my fellow Africans' effort, but I think the world passed this stage some centuries ago. This is not fun at all!

Not true funding is still not a problem for universities for their still funded by foreign countries. The thing is reluctant on research works and teaching. Simple example see current UDSM students skills on reaserch, is reall poor especially for undergraduates which is the very important base

I just read between lines towards this creativity. I can say is such a good creativity especially to students and I incourage them be more creative to come up with their own engine rather than exploring mult-use of different mashine engines as they did and thus marketing it as new innovation while technically is not. Nevertheless academically is good job.

However, I would argue them to be careful with the marketing strategy for instance, they reported that the car seats are made of wood, boad made from iron sheet, engine converted from grinding machine,etc, and that the car will be in the market at Tshs. 9 million. With these features, they blanded the car as poor mans car. Honestly, they is no value for money buying such car ''why should a rural poor spend such huge among of money for rabbish??''. This is gonna be more or less similar to Tata nano which is being advertised as the cheapest car ever in the world while is completely illusion. Tata nano for instance will be sold at 1,500pound. Among others the car, has no air bag, no air cond., evry thing manual including windors, no hydralic steering, etc..... can you really say this is a cheapest car ever in the world????? absolutely NO.

The point I'm making here is that, as scientist lets keep on researching for better and better technologies and be more creative rather than trying to fool very informed society for rabbish staffs. I appreciate it but not happy with the marketing strategy they still need more time and more better ideas to come-up with more sophisticated car to deserve their maketing strategy.

bm21, I agree with you that funding is still not a problem, BUT only for researchers who focus on povety alleviation related problems, environment related problems, and democracy and good governance. Donors (and the Govt as well) tend to fund only these sorts of research works. They hardly support the kind of research/technology development we are discussing in this thread. What I was trying to express in my previous post is that the Govt should finance these kinds of research/technology development as well.

Right, lets investigate the funding levels for technical colleges i.e. DIT, Mbeya tech and Coet - UDSM so we can satisfy ourselves if really funding levels is a problem for technical researches.

isipokuwa wame concentrate zaidi katika kusolve madesa. Library catalogues zina
vitabu ambavyo havipo, na vilivyopo ni vya zamani sana.
3. Naona kuna umuhimu mkubwa wa kuangalia huu mtaala wetu wa elimu ili tuweze
kutengeneza watu wenye uwezo wa kuwa more practical. Ilivyo sasa engineers wengi ni
engineers wa madesa kama wasomi wengine wa chuo kikuu cha Dar. Tunategema
wataweza kutengeneza magari kweli? I doubt

UDSM ni kijiji kikubwa sana, na ujue ninaposem graduate na wanaoendeleza nchi sio wale walio chuo tu, hata walio maliza. tusiwape mzigo fulani watu fulani tu.

Anyway, napenda changamoto, sijafikia bado hadhi hiyo ya lecturer, kukamata watu na kuomba rushwa za ngono, na kama nikifikia ngazi hiyo nifanye hayo basi nadhani thamani yangu ni sawa na mnyama!

Sifikirii kama kukamata ni dunia ya sasa, ilishapitwa na wakati, mkakati wangu ni kuwa hata disco zisiwepo!
