Default Zambians hail new Precision Air flights to Lusaka

Zambians led by the country’s minister for Transport, Hon. Yamfwa Mukanga have hailed Precision Air’s new launched flights between Lusaka and Dar es Salaam eyeing out that it would trigger trade and tourism between the two nations.

Speaking recently during the inauguration ceremony at the Taj Pamodzi Hotel, the Zambian Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications, Hon. Yamfwa Mukanga (MP) commended the airline for its initiative and seeing the opportunity for doing business in Zambia.

Zambian Minister for Transport, Supply and Communications Hon. Yamfwa Mukanga (2nd left) shares notes with the Tanzanian Deputy Permanent Secretary - Ministry of Transport Hon. John Mngodo (2nd right) at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport over the weekend. Looking on is the Tanzanian High Commissioner to Zambia H.E Grace Mujuma (extreme left) and Precision Air Group Managing Director and CEO Alfonse Kioko (extreme right). Precision Air launched its maiden flight to Lusaka Zambia on Friday 22nd June 2012.

“The round-robin flight launched today will facilitate lucrative trade and tourism, as well as increase interaction and understanding between our peoples. Undeniably it will act as an extra pillar to strengthen the current relations that we have and lift it to a better position of cooperation between our partnering states,” Hon. Mukanga said. Meanwhile, PrecisionAir’s Group Managing Director and CEO Mr. Alfonse Kioko said that the airline was committed to eliminating the bother which passengers between Zambia and Tanzania get by having to travel 9 hours plus through other places to arrive in Lusaka or Dar es Salaam due to the lack of convenient and direct flights.

Also present at the launch, George Makulu, a Zambian businessman said, “There is a lot of excitement in the market and confidence over the Precision Air service given what we have heard about its history- safety record and listing on the Dar E salaam Stock Exchange. ” If Precision can maintain on time performance and the equipment they are using which is good for cargo, we will surely support them,” he added.

Also speaking at the launch, the Tanzanian High Commissioner to Zambia Her Excellency Grace Mujuma commended the airline for the step achieved. “When word went round that Precision was starting flights to Lusaka, there was some skepticism. Today, you have silenced the skeptics and made Tanzania proud.” She said.

The official launch of Precision Air flights in Lusaka was also graced by the Deputy Permanent Secretary - Ministry of Transport Mr. John Mngodo who reiterated government’s support to the airline. “On behalf of the Government of Tanzania and on my own behalf, I would like to reiterate government's support to Precision Air and other airline investors who dare to undertake the necessary research and analysis and come up with such initiatives that benefit our economies.” He said.

“Definitely we do expect such an endeavor by precision Air would result in multiplier effects in air travel in the region and reduce cost of doing business and therefore present our region as an attractive destination for investment.” He added.

Precision Air launched flights over the weekend between Dar es Salaam and Lusaka, with operations 3 times a week; Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with an introductory fare of USD 399 for a round trip. Dar Es Salaam Lusaka is the sixth international route for the antelope tailed airline. The others are Johannesburg, Hahaya, Nairobi, Entebbe and Mombasa. Domestically Precision Air flies to Mwanza, Bukoba, Musoma, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Zanzibar, Mtwara and Dar es Salaam.
